Vista. Creating Mods

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Vista. Creating Mods

IS it true that vista only allows you to write to My Docs?
If so can you still rebuild mods?

BlitzMax has some issues under Vista. I'm not sure about rebuilding mods, not something I tested actually. But turning UAC off will make that problem go away. =]

Just re-enable the 'proper' administrator accound that is disabled by default. You can find that under Start->Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Computer Management. Choose Local Users and Groups, Select Users on right, and right click on administrator, choose properties, and remove the check from Account is disabled. Log out and log back in under the real administrator account.

So this is just going to be the "standard" tweak that most IT people make to Vista as soon as they get it then.

So what happens if I dont mind a user of the PC being able to build MODS, but I dont want them to have Administrative access?

Just give that user certain rights and access. Its a pain to do tho.

"turning UAC off" is the saver !

now we can play WOW again on vista :)

That's interesting - Final Fantasy XI worked fine and the first thing it does is install new crap all over the place when you start it up =] Except for the occassional crash due to bad graphics engine.

Just re-enable the 'proper' administrator accound that is disabled by default.

That never actually solved it for me.

I also read of adding 'TrustedInstaller' rights to the admin account and using that, but I guess that must have been fixed post-beta2 cuz it didn't seem to make a difference for me.
