Looking for an adapter to make a pc monitor a tv.

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Looking for an adapter to make a pc monitor a tv.

I hope this doesn't sound too dumb, but I have no idea what they're called. I need to plug my beloved xbox into my pc monitor with an adapter.

- Thanks in advance :) ...once the question is answered let this thread sink.

Would just need a Composite/Component to VGA/DVI adapter no?
(probably a KVM switch also so you can easily swap the monitor usage from PC to 360, and vice-versa)

Video in on the graphics card?

XBox or XBox 360?

if you want to connect the xbox right to the monitor (so it will work even when the pc is turned off) then you may buy a special adapter. You could also use a tv/video capture card, but this would then require to use the pc. Probably your graphics card already has some kind of video in port (usually supervhs or composite in). In this case you only need a cable and some software. Then again, there are cheap tv capture cards for about 30$.

That would require your PC to be on though. You could possibly wire your own one, I'm sure there are a few guides over on Xbox-Scene.

Maby you can byu another monitor that can recive TV. Like a LCD tv. with VGA in.. :)

I'd rather kill myself than buy a new tv solely for xbox.

KVM is what I'm looking for... I think. Then again I might not bother to pay for another xbox+adapter simply because my other xbox is part owned by my dad and happens to be at his house :( I have yet to check the price of the original xbox in New Zealand, my step-brother said the controllers are still $60 - so much for a price drop. It was the same price last year.
