Plans for 2007

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Plans for 2007

Ok what's your new year's resolutions, or plans for 2007?

My goal is to finally get a game released!

I'm going to tidy my bedroom in 2007.

My aim is to make a game (which is actually only weeks away from finished), and turn it into profit. I have a couple of debts that I want to get cleared by this time next year. Oh, and I need a few ££ so I can move house, too.

I plan on getting better at coding, releasing some small games (freeware) and at least 1 commercial game. I'm not worried if it doesn't make any profits

Sorry to be nosey but do you want to move because of that Drug Dealer you mentioned in another thread?

I use to live in Haringey, North London near the bridge. I remember the locals and myself being harrased and threatened by the local Turk Drug dealers. There was a massive Police crackdown on these gangs not so long ogo in Haringey.

Needless to say, I was forced to move.

I took on all my local gangs - totally lessoned them. I own the streets.

Gangs are easy to lesson - just Large it.

Sort of, yeah.

If I ever get him by himself I'm a bit scared that I won't be able to stop hitting his face, and end up doing a spell in Her Majesty's Hotel. I've already spent a night in prison because of him. It was an experience I don't care to repeat.

Its more sensible to walk away than it is to deal with him.

It's less fun if it is an individual you are after. The last time I got involved with an individual I got a harrasment order against me.

There is clearly more fun, and less risk, taking on a big gang - especially if they annoy other people - it's like you are doing a service to society.

it's like you are doing a service to society.
Pity the police didn't see it that way. Although I don't think that me calling one of them "Poirot" helped the situation.

I agree 100%.

Don't expect him to be like you though. If he's one of them tipical Drug crazed idiots there's no doubt in my mind that he'll want to fight.

Well, depends on the situation - I used to stalk them - that was the bit I loved, the fact that I was in control - I could choose the moment of lessoning. The fun part with a big gang is waiting for them to all split up to go home and gleefully wondering which group to start following.

Plus, drug dealers are a good source of income - what do drug dealers generally have on them - yep, money. Just entice one in - batter him and Large it off with the takings.

Public service - Large.

Amon I used to live in Haringey, for about 3 years. On the ladder, near the river like you say. And yes, I'm so glad to have got out! Nasty place.

well this went off track a little ;-) Good luck every with your resolutions, my primary focus is vastly improving my financial situation - I'm all geared up for it so it's a done deal.

Although I don't think that me calling one of them "Poirot" helped the situation.
Haha, but poirot never punched a drug dealer in the face, he just twirled his moustache and used his brain.

Anyway, walking (or running) away is a good move for personal safety for sure even if it doesn't feel very noble, but you might not feel so noble with a knife in your gut. Really self-defense should be used as a last resort. When you learn self defense you have been given some important knowledge and you need to take care or it and not just use it willy nilly.

tipical Drug crazed idiots
Depends what drugs, I wouldn't worry about a pot head who can't even stand up for example. Mind you I'd watch out for ones that can't spell...;-)

Hide behind a large tin fence and when He comes to deal in his usualy spot, drop a large brick on his head. Then, while unconcious, pocket His stash, drag Him to the nearest bridge, and drop Him over.

Deal the last of His stash, pay your bills, and run away.

Finish 'Bad, Bad, Bots!'... and a few other things.

Finish my project that is now been a year(ish) in the making ?? Kicked it off in B3D, now finishing in BMax + Grey's BlitzMaz Game Framework.

I keep peeking at the B3D forums, have delved into wings - need to Stop this 'diversion' until I finsih polishing my app.

Oh yeah - need to try and address my keyboard dyslexia....

@Gfk, I empathise, but with most idiots you're better off walking away, people reap what they sow in the end.

Graduate, finalize our business plan, get some investors hooked up, develop. In that order.

..I'lltry to remove few chicks from my back, and finish 3D platformer I'm working on past 3 months..after that going to take some sailing around philipines

remove few chicks from my back
Try putting them round the front, works for me.

- Graduate High School
- get accepted into my desired college/college course (Television Animation)

- Get that damned solo intro to Hotel California down on my guitar

Finish my latest game, just a couple more weeks should do it. Then I have 5 or 6 other games planned out so I'll just get busy with those. Also want to set up a website and advertise as a 3d artist to help fund my games :)

Naughty Alien: I live in the Philippines :)

hey JA2..thats cool man..you my neighboor then :) .. I'mliving/working/ordinating between Japan, Malaysia and Australia, past 6 years ;)

This probably sounds a bit grim but my plan is to grit my teeth, keep my head down and just get 2007 over with in as bearable a way as possible. 2008 should be a great year for me though.

Start using from my vast library of programming books

To finish my POS Software in BMax... and to buy BMax to start the software in the first place.

Hello.

- Sort out divorce & finances;
- Finish Msc;
- Maybe go to drama college.
- Sleep.

Goodbye.

Finish Tank Universal (I know, I know).

I'm going to get with this girl I've been putting off asking out for the last two years. Hurrah!

Whatcha working on that's so rough?

Pay off small loan,

Learn a bit more C++/C# so I can widen my horizons.

Start and maybe even complete a new commercial game, and make a bit more money than my last attempt...

Maybe port to X360,

or Wii.

..Actually our idea fits the Wii perfectly, but it's going to be tougher than the x360 route.

..Woah, thats definitely enough for the next 3 years! :P

Get a Wii.

I want to have a working early implementation of my game going by mid-year. I'm going to really have to buckle down to get there, though.

Get a Wii.

Want one for £349.99? :P

That was on my checklist too but I got one!

Yowzer. No.

Actually to be precise I want a good-condition working Wii nice and cheap and also the time to play on it...

Finish a game, then write a good one.

Yeah. Gamestation are getting more in next thursday mate.

I got mine, unopened, in exchange for an unsellable X360.

Anyhoo, How be ye dude? :)

Got what essentialy ammounts to two commercial projects both related to one another. One a fun cad like application. The other a commercial game for PC and consoles.

Early days yet on the game, Once thats been given the go ahead I'll have to take on the roll of producer and start pulling everything together and establishing the team for the final project.

So far we have been using Blitzmax with ogre for prototyping but eventualy we will have to migrate to a .Net language or C++ if were going to port the game to consoles.

Fun times :)

so without consoles, you'd release the game in blitzmax on PC?

Depends on how the porting went.

Without the need to port etc, it'd be fine in BlitzMax although using BlitzMax has given us a *ton* of extra work to do.
