Driver detectors?
Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Driver detectors?
Are there any good free programs out there that could tell me what drivers I need for certain parts of an old PC (pci card, audio card etc...) I am trying to get working for a friend of mine. He cannot access the original CD`s with the drivers on so I need another way to obtain them but first I need to find out what ones are needed and it isn`t that easy.

best driver detectors in the world... yer eyeballs.
crack the case and look to see what's in it.
Does it have onboard video/audio?
If you can find out what type of motherboard it is, you should be able to get all the necessary drivers from the manufacturer's site.
It's a pay-for program, but 'Astra' is rediculously good for detecting what you've got without looking under the hood.
Get Lavalys Everest. Although the free version has been discontinued a short google for Everest Home Edition should do what you want, and then some.
Open er up and take a look at any serial numbers, model numbers, etc that might be on the boards.
All good tips, thanks. I`ll look into it.
