Sky Plus - Dumb Question

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Sky Plus - Dumb Question

Ok, feel free to have a laugh at me cuz I feel like a complete retard posting this question. How in hell do you change the batteries in a Sky Plus remote?

There's a little thumb shaped indentation in the back at the bottom and a little plastic tab with an arrow on it, which I assumed was involved, but what the hell opens? The whole thing seems to be moulded plastic with no openings anywhere. I've googled to the best of my ability and all I can find is that it takes 2xAA batteries, but where and how?

You have to microwave it - apparantly, it recharges the batteries.

Lol. You have to press the little thumb thing, keep it pressed and somehow lift the backing off. While you have it pushed up, use your fingernail to lift the black plastic molding from the grey control.

It took me a few hours to figure it out when I first got SkyPlus as I thought it was a press and slide way of doing it. :)

Next to the zero at the bottom of the control is the black molding and the grey hard plastic of the control. Push the little thum thing at the back and then lift the vlack molding away from the grey control.

So the whole black moulded piece comes off at the bottom and hinges about half way up the control? I'm trying it with a decent amount of force, but no luck so far.

Jeez, I don't have Sky but it sounds like the remote was designed by an idiot! :/

throw it at the wall that should get the back of ;) no idea sorry.

Ok, I got it off. It took a heck of a lot of brute force. I think mine was put together by Popeye or something. Thanks Amon, I was afraid to just start pulling in case I broke something.

Haha, funny isn't it. I was just taking "decomissioning" my sky remote yesterday (I gave up TV last year) and had to go through the whole Mensa test again. Just about to put the +box in the attic.
