Getting email from Outlook to Mac Mail

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Getting email from Outlook to Mac Mail

Having just got my macbook, I'd like to get my mail messages out of Outlook on my PC, into Mac Mail on my mac. But however I try it, I can't seem to do it. (I haven't set up a network between the two either, so I need to do it via an exported file.

I've tried every export option, and dragging the messages off into a desktop folder, going via Outlook Express, via Entourage, via both... Nothing seems to work.

The nearest I got was importing into Outlook Express, then dragging the messages to a folder, copying them to my mac, then dragging them into Entourage. But instead of importing the messages into the inbox, it imported one folder for each message, with that one message inside. If there was a quick way of then getting those into a single folder, I'd be there. But THAT's not possible either!

Any suggestions? This should be the easiest thing in the world, surely?

Why not send the email to yourself, and use the Mac to receive it ? Its usually the easiest way.

I have 2997 messages. :)

Phew, figured it out. Had to import it into Outlook Express, drag them into separate desktop folders, transfer to mac, drag into Entourage, then go into custom views and bunch up anything received today, select and move to new folder, rinse and repeat, then import into macmail. Gordon Bennett!

I bet you all really wanted to know that, didn't you?

Can you use Thunderbird as an inbetween (or even better a final destination)?

Never used it...
