Screen Size

I bought about two years ago a recondistioned Toshiba satilite Pro. (Its a pii 697Mhz).

Its normal screen size is 1028 by 768. Whenever I drop the screen resolution to a lower res (Down to 640 by 480), It doesnt make the screen full screen, just only uses the centre of the screen to that resolution. (That is if I make the screen 800 by 600 I get 114 black pixels at the top and 114 at the bottom etc). Any res Bellow 640 and its full screen

Its not realy been a problem as Ive just been using it as a server/Alarm clock/Media centre conected to the TV. But its starting to annoy me. I want to play (say) Lan diablo ii, all the person stuck with the Toshiba gets is a really small screen in the middle of the display.

Now the computer has all the last drivers for it, its running Win XP Home, and I cannot at all figure out how to make full screen proper full screen. Any Ideas?

Display Properties>>Settings>>Advanced

Flat Panel>>Display Stretch

Thats the sort of thing that I would expect the anwser to be, however...

There isnt a "Flat Panel" in advanced. I have General,Adapter,Monitor,Troublesoot and colorManagement.

Monitor (Which seems closest to Flat panal, Has Generic TV, DefaultMonitor and Toshiba Internal 1024x768 Panel, the only settings option Is refresh rate.

Does this mean that I have set something wrong? Thanks anyway

What brand of vid card you using?

If it's an nVidia one and you got the screen connected by a DVI cable, check-out the flat-panel settings in the nVidia driver panel.

hahahahahaha its a 1999 Toshiba portable. Its a 4 meg shared memory sis chip. (I think), and the monitor is connected to the compter via the computer. (Its a laptop)

I have a Toshiba Satellite 1800-814 with Trident Cyberblade 16mb graphics which is what my instructions above were based on.

If it hasn't been of any use, try going into BIOS (press ESC at startup, I think) - I have 'screen stretch' options in there, too.

Press Esc, Press Esc, Damb. Thats just the thing that not having the manual makes a pain in the bottom.

I think DEL just lets you select the primary boot device on mine...

Thats f2 on mine. BUt your esc tip has solved my problem, so brill. (oh and Ive just looked it not a satalite, is a portege)
