Terragen 2 is awesome

Knocked these together in only a few minutes. Nuff said.

More? Go here. (WARNING: Terragen site is painfully slow but it DOES work. Its worth the perseverance).

WOW THOSE do look awsome!!

They look SO realistic!!

Woah! Takes me back to my Vista Pro days on my Amiga 1200. I wonder how far off the final release is?

Can't wait to see TerraGen 2 allow for widescreen panorama screen snaps, would be perfect for High-Definition based games.

Supposedly you can render entire planets in Terragen 2 and look at them from far off in space all the way through to a close-up of a grain of sand. Nice :-) There were some example movies online somewhere.

Extraordinary.

I wonder how far off the final release is?

--to the final release of Terragen 2, scheduled for completion in 2007--

You pre-purchase it already and get extra features unlocked from the tech preview:

Some of the images in their gallery are just amazing!

Sure has come a long way since Terrgan1.....

Quite amazing how well the rendered is, beautiful near-photorealistic graphics.

Makes you wonder when rendered stuff from Terrgan1 will be capable in real-time.
(no way our graphics card will be touching the stuff 2 can output anytime soon)

I dunno, one of the ps3 demos looked quite close.

Dunno what PS3 specs are, but the pics above contain 600,000 and 950,000 tris respectively. Both took about 8-10 mins each to render.

How much did Terragen 1 cost originally?

TG1 was $79 I think... (we have one license at work).

The new License will cost 100$ for upgrading from 0.9 or 199$ for standalone purchase without animation control and 299$ with animation and motion blur capabilities.

Btw: T2 is very impressive.

This also took me a few seconds to create (but about an hour to render)

Dude, that is REALLY worth the price tag of admission, just gonna go well with new versions of Blitz... Just in time for Vista, too. Hmm, wonder if Blitz will support Vista, and TerraGen 2.

klepto2, the image is excellent apart from the clouds which look like something knocked up in mspaint!

Pretty impressive output from terragen, mountain bonus time grey alien? :)

Yeah, the clouds are a bit messy. But this was just an experiment to have some kind of Fog above the water. I think I have choosen a to big difference in the heightrange, maybe I will make a better Version of this or a completely new one.

I thought it was waves crashing on the rocks... looking again... OK maybe it was fog... not like Houston fog... Gulf of Mexico effect fog... old style London pea soup we have! The watter was probably breaking through the fogs transparency maybe? fog is fluffy and soft and blurry... is it set for that?
