Well firstly, what wait? Unless it supports either DX9 or DX10, I have no interest in it, so I'm not waiting for anything.

Ok, the first was a little facetious, so secondly, I didn't suggest it should be at the exclusion of anything else, so Vista-only wouldn't apply.

Thirdly, Mark himself says in his worklog that the engine is/will be written such that a DirectX renderer would be very little work. So if he says it won't take long, who am I to argue?

Confused here.....so this thing is installable on WinXP/2k-like systems. I thought DX10 wasn't going to be compatible with these OSs?

Or is this just for dev kit purposes to prep apps for Vista when it gets publically released?
(but then again for testing purposes you'd be stupid not to have one of the near-final beta versions)

I think it means that if you make an application using this you'll need to include the redist package with it, instead of telling people to go MS and download and install it from there?

Says DX9L is for WinXP and allows DX10 games to work on XP, then again I've also read DX9L is Vista only so I'm confused too.

I guess then it's time to embrace the next generation of product breakage and incompatibility.

I'm not buying a new computer in the near future now - will probably wait until summer time - see how many DX10 games there are.

Just buy a console instead, the games are better, more reliable and you don't need to do any fiddlin around with PC bits. Just plug in and play. Plus the best reason of all, goodbye shitty Windows.

Console games are mostly rubbish with very few exceptions. I think Puki is right to wait a bit, in 6 months he will most likely be able to get an equivalent system for almost half the price

There may actualy be some games that need that kind of hardware by then too, like the next far cry game.
