Why does bb.com not have proper post dates/times?

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Why does bb.com not have proper post dates/times?

I've wondered this before, but why do we not have proper date and time stamps for threads and posts?

Most forums I've seen will put the time and date of a post. I'd rather have proper date and time stamps.

Anyone know why we don't have them? I don't know anything about running forums (just in case BRL don't do it for a good reason).

I just think it might prove crucial with my problems with my new PC system that everything had an actual date and time stamp.

Probably just needs a 'flick of a switch' to enable this exciting new feature.

If they do that, they'd also need to incorporate time zones whereas posting something "10 minutes ago" in the UK is still the same in Australia.

Ah.

Wha..you can tell the time Puki? :)

Perhaps put an option in the user profile where they can define their own timezone, and show the times a comment was posted converted to said timezone?

Of course, the current system is fairly user friendly as well, but unfortunately it does tend to act a tad funky whenever it rolls over to the next month.

... but the British invented time AND Australia AND New Zealand. :)

Admittedly its a little vague when it says "posted 1 year ago". That could be 13 months, or 23 months. Not that it matters I suppose.

How about "Posted 1 year, 1 month, 1 day, 1:01 ago " format.

And the USA. Except they didnt want to pay the "Native American Protection Tax", so had a revolution.

I think they should just state what ever local time it was posted according to the server. You can always convert to your local time if you wanted to. Simple and theres no confusion.

The way it is, is fine i reckon :o)
