Magazine cover pricing

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Magazine cover pricing

Hi,

We got an inquiry to put one of our older products on the cover of their computer related magazine.

They want to buy 50.000 pcs, individually packed and printed. Does anyone here has any experience with how much we can ask for the licenses (minus packaging, printing etc.)?

Too be honest we have no idea how much money is normally spent on these sort of promotional actions.

Since you are getting free advertising that way, the mag would expect you to either give them the stuff for free or for a fee, which is smaller than the cost of producing the CD's (or DVD's). Remember that the mag is paying for the distribution so it's kind of a joint venture where both sides are expect to contribute financially.

have i read this right:
they want you to knock up the cd for them is this bizaro's world?
in the uk computer magazines do the compilation of stuff and shovel it all on one dvd, they don't expect the software house big or small to supply 50k cd's, just a zip they can stick in a folder.
just imagine if they did, the magazine would be supplied with a 100 cd cake.

ps QAOP!* long time no type (or code or use pc/net for that matter)
