Wee issues w/ my Wii

Anyone else's Wii have a tendency to occasionally issue a "System Files corrupted" error. This only seems to happen when I'm in the Wii menu, usually after exiting a game or immediately after turning on the Wii. It happens maybe...eh, maybe 4-5 times since I've gotten it (on Nov 19th).

A simple power off and on has always fixed it, so far, so I'm not too worried. I'm just curious if this is a relatively common issue for Wii owners or if mine is just being funky. I should probably mention that I didn't get the downloadable update yet. I suspect that may be a big factor in this issue.

I've also had it freeze once while playing Wii sports. Has this happened to anyone else?

Just curious I guess. The issues mentioned have in no way hampered my enjoyment of the machine - they've just left me a bit concerned.

Minde froze up twice but I've never seen the other error. I have to admit I'm pretty miffed that they freeze up. What's with consoles these days?

I hate those bugs that are just too complicated and random to be bothered to report...

I saw that when I went to EB in davis this weekend. it was left stuck on the system files corrupted screen. Didn't enquire about it though.

Nothing..just fast and furious production without serious bug hunt, and all for profit..who care about users anymore..huhh

I've seen error screens on the Wii, X360 and the PS3- the PS3 "error" screen reminded me of an old nes rom that got pulled out- Corrupted graphics, and a bit of white text at the top left.

PS3's gone from the window now.

I doubt that lawsuit is going to go anywhere. It's quite ridiculous, really.

Got some issues with my wii too, had a disc read error about 3 times since I have had it, and 1 crash. Have had it for over a week.

Isn't there a way to upgrade the Wii via broadband? I heard someone on the forums say their problems evaporated once they had upgraded the firmware.

Just wondering if that may help you guys?

The minute I can get a decent internet connection, I will most definately upgrade. Hopefully that will help.

I haven`t had one problem yet, I really love my Wii :) It`s the best thing I`ve bought in ages.

Some Wii's get broken by the internet update and have to be replaced under warranty. There's a bulletin about it for US wii's.

Wow...sounds like a lot of problems. Perhaps I should hold off with getting the Wii?

If you will buy a console which is fresh out of the factory, I think you just have to live with these sorts of problems. XBox 360 had them, PS3 will probably have them when anyone who wants one actually gets one instead of just Ebay traders, original XBox had them, PS2 had then, can't remember but I'm sure some Gamecubes had them.

I like to criticize greedy businesses wherever I can, but I have sympathy with them. It's hard to test on the kind of scale that selling hundreds of thousands in a weekend provides.

Now if they're not dealing properly with all the problems, repairing and replacing as required, I'd change my tune real quick.

Nintendo is apprently doing a sterling job in replacing defective consoles. So I am not worried about that.

I am keeping a keen eye on my system, and if it gets worse or happens again, I will be phoning Nintendo. The crash issue I had is apparently not uncommon, it was the disc read errors that had/have me concerned.

well, just got off the phone with Nintendo, and they will be sending me a new console. 3-4 business days and it should arrive.

If the errors are hampering your enjoyment and concerning you, phone em and get it replaced.

I haven't had any issues with my Wii. No itching, no burning...

Yah, Nintendo has awesome customer support.
My brother had his DS-Lite replaced for the 3rd time ( that cracked hinge problem... again :/ Yes, I'm being unfair to Sony Nintendo has a horrible design flaw on the DS-Lite blah blah blah), but they ended up shipping him a GB Micro by accident. The people at Nintendo phoned him to say they'd made a mistake, they let him keep the GB Micro and they shipped a new DS Lite on the same day.
(So he got a free GB Micro and a fixed DS Lite... for free).

Wish they'd screw up on my replacement systems, got me a faulty DSLite from the store, Nintendo sent a replacement one which arrived at my door two days later (nothing like free express shipping), mailed back my old one (again, free shipping).....

Now if only the replacement DSLite didn't have the infamous cracked hinge problem, as well as this one stuck green pixel. Will get around to mailing it back for replacement #2, just been lazy the last couple months.
(that and the warranty gets renewed for each replacement system they send, so I got a good year ;/ )


Regarding the Wii, I've never really had any probs with mine aside from a random lock-up during Zelda (the only one I've seen during my 40 some hours of gameplay), and two lock-ups exiting the Mii Channel....

But yeah, Nintendo (well, at least in North America) has A+ customer support, nothing a phone call and a little patience can't fix.
(now if only they implemented means of transferring your purchased VC games.....they really should tie it to your Nintendo.com account and not the system -.-)

Yah, I remember the huge mess the 360 had last year. Luckily most of the issues subsided by the time I got one. The PS3 had an issue with the component cables not outputing in HD with some TVs but they immediatly fixed that with a firmware update. I'm just wondering maybe i should hold off with the Wii for while.....hmm....

For those of you who haven't had any problems, did you download the update right away? I'm thinking the lack of update is why I'm having the (occasional) problem.

I downloaded the update right away, yes. I didn't intend to, but it does it automatically the first time you connect to the net. :-)

Am I right in thinking your Wii is white? Mine is all yellow, if it's a little red then I advise you to go take it to the doctor to show it to him.
