So technically you dont really own yourself if suicide is illegal. Ignore all immoral aspects of the obvious and think about it. If you own something doesnt that give you the right to do what-ever with it. I.E. I go and buy a 360, I have the right to smash it on the pavement. Of course I dont have the right to drop it off a building, that could fall and break someones neck, probably even kill them. But I mean, if its not endangering anyone else, I.E. in the private of your own bathroom, then how can it be illegal.
Of course you hurt others and it is really and entirely selfish act -- albiet for some people it really is their only escape, but yeah. What do you think?

Anyhow, I think it's amusing. Bureacracy gone wild. I wonder how many tax dollars were spent making that a law. I'd like to hear the 'enforcement plan' behind that one. "Sir, pull the gun from your mouth or I'll be forced to shoot you."
Haha that'd be about it. Technically it wouldn't be suicide, it would then be something else. In the end you still get the job done though. Provided the cop has really bad Aim and shoots you in the heart or the head. Or for slow and painful - the stomach.
If i would be in the mood to commit suicide i really wouldn't care if it's illegal or not...sorry folks...

How can suicide be even illegal, I'd like to know on what grounds they can punish you, unless they have jail sentences in heaven.
I think they should lock 'em all up and throw away the key.
It's mainly illegal to stop assisted death. If you helped somebody die you might argue that it wasn't illegal for them to kill themselves, and you just helped them do something legal. Also you are not considered to own yourself, God does that.
But then again I can't see people with the bottle to actually try to take their life being worried that its not legal. And I seriously doubt anyone has ever been sent to jail for attempting suicide.

really a good idea to base our laws on superstitious nonsense such as the whims of magical beings?
We should have the right to die in a manner of our own choosing and to help others to die in the ways that they choose too.

You guys are sick. I've known people to commit suicide. It's not exactly a nice subject to joke around with. When someone takes their own life it affects everyone who knows them. And it's not very nice for the person who finds their mutilated corpse hanging from a rope...
So if you commit suicide, whats the punishment... Life! :D snigger

I feel sorry for people like that, in dispair, cannot see a way out apart from collecting their big P45!
