Games for Kids

Hello again,

I'm looking for a PC game for my daughter (just 6), I don't know why but there seems to be a real shortage of games for the under 10's. The only games that she really likes at the moment are the Petz series which she has and likes a lot. I had a look at Sam & Max: Culture Shock but it requires too much reading and relys on sharp punchy humour most of which she would not get.

The only other game that looks quite promising is Barbie: High School Mystery but I can't find any real reviews anywhere and there seems to be no demo.

I'm also worried that the Barbie game, like many of the Disney titles and others are just cash-ins on the branding with no real value as a game that are quickly discarded.

Has anyone got any suggestions, maybe stuff that has been a big hit with thier own kids?

Games which require high levels of coordination are not a good idea and games that you don't "lose" are also a good idea.

ATM I'm looking to see if I can dig out my copy of Curse of Monkey Island from somewhere but I know that while she will enjoy messing with the game the puzzle solving will be too hard. There must be better alternatives.

Lucy, who is also 6 (7 tomorrow), loves the "Mystery Case File" series by BigFish, also WaterBugs and dare I say it..... Match 3 games. She also loves the free games on the Nickelodeon website and cBeebies.

Newgrounds? - It'll give them an early start.

This game rocks. Very...zen like.

Lots of other kid games at this site, as well.

Wow, I just beat that game that I linked to with a score of 605. I tell you, that gets *intense*!

My two eldest (Rachel 6, and Kaitlin 4) are both especially fond of Barbie: Horse Adventures, the I Spy series of games, anything Pajama Sam or Freddi Fish, and a variety of old arcade games emulated in MAME.

Sheesh - having typed that, I should buy myself a game sometime! :o)

Why Holiday Bonus of course (due out on Monday)! Actually my 5 year loves it and many people say the same about their kids. There are probably lots of neat games for kids on Big Fish Games in the puzzle section, and you can download the demos and try them first too. If you find one she likes, let me know and I'll tell you of similar ones.
