First benchmark: 70365 aquamarks. Not too shabby for a single video card and REALLY not shabby for a laptop. :)

The main drawback of a laptop is the abyssmal harddrive performance compared with a halfway decent PC... Although you can work around that by using a decent external USB or firewire harddrive enclosure. Of course then you lose your portability again. :-?
normally... yes. BUT...
Note that I have dual 7200rpm 100gig drives in this laptop running RAID0. Even HD performance is pretty decent. :)
My xps however... hard drive perf is horrid.

4533 3dmarks (3dmark06)... Not great, but not too shabby for a laptop.
[edit] though orb does rank me as #1 for my hardware configuration... but I don't know what it's really comparing me against so I dunno.
I'm actually not real happy with running the latest and greatest 3dmark software. It's so far above the average hardware's level that it's like comparing cars against a rocket sled. No matter what kind of car it is, the bar is so low that it doesn't matter whether it's a volvo or a lamborghini.
My personal opinion is that the benchmarking software has to be able to push some of the best hardware on the market to it's limits obviously, but it should also run well enough that lower end hardware isn't totally put at the bottom of a barrel where it's hard to tell how good or bad it is. Aquamark is a pretty good bench of hardware even now and it's starting to show it's age. Because even though upper end hardware breaks 100,000 points well enough, even lower end hardware can easily run it and get a result that's pretty easy to understand.
With 3dmark, unless you are overclocking and running SLI or quad SLI, you are going to fall into a range that's pretty narrow... How much faster is a 4500 machine than a 4200? I have no idea. The range is too shallow to tell for certain.
Just some lay observations on benchmarking... take them with a large grain of salt if you want. :)
