Good luck :) It's difficult enough to give the technology away.

Thanks Tim :)

I do wish you luck Maher, my solution, inspired by your great work, has been a real uphill struggle - the issue is one of price (cheap only invites time wasters) and one of trust (get your sandbox working soon).

You also need a recognised big brand behind you (coming soon).

PS. You might also want to look at native plugins as Vista is gonna break a shed load of stuff.

Wait a minute. So for $129.99 I can get a site license for amonuk, no renewel fees (License is forever, Pro Version that works on the most popular browsers and 10% off if I order before 1st Jan 2007?

Can I use it for apps?

How difficult would it be for me (I'm a retard) to get my small games, demos ect ect played with OSAKit on my website?

I'm going to be using the SubDreamer CMS on my site. Will this cause any problems? A bit more info for you, SubDreamer is a PHP+SQL based content management system. Do I need to embed anything in a webpage ie. java, php, etc to get it to work?

This is basically igloader, but cheaper and better?

What is the support like? Because I'm a total noob I may ask a lot of support questions. Can I expect a professional service?

Hm... dangerous thread here o_0

Good luck!
Your work inspired my fiddling as well.
How well does this work with native GUI applications that have multiple windows (even if those windows are within the main window, like panels or tool windows)?

*Runs away*

{deleted} LMAO

Tim : Thanks a lot... to the minute it works on Vista!

Amon : Why not try the demo and see for yourself http://www.osakit.com/downloads/OSAKitProSetup.exe I am sure you will get it running without my support, just read the included Help file especially the 'Step by Step' topic! Note that a Warning message will appear with your test because there is no valid license file.

Mr. Picklesworth : To be honest I did not test a big GUI apps...just small utilities like :

http://www.osakit.com/calendar.html
http://www.osakit.com/cpuz.html

But you know what, I should try one big app :)

LMAO : have you seen what IG can do? And you can get if for free? and you get adshare? www.igloader.com/features.php#Wrap

I have seen what ig can do. For me, and all the PC's I tested it on, the games would wobble in the window making them unplayable. There were adverts and long loading times. When I went to pjio and tried nearly all the games there, they froze firefox.

This didn't happen when i tested the OSAKit.

And please, before you say it's my computer at fault, well, it's not.

I have nothing against igloader. It's afantastic piece of kit. It just doesn't work for me, indiepath.

And you can get if for free? and you get adshare?

Ok, show me where I can download and use igloader on my website with a full site license, allowibng me to use unlimited games with it, for free.

Okay, here's a GUIish app like I'm thinking that you could try:
http://www.blitzbasic.com/Community/posts.php?topic=61175
It has a lot of native GUI stuff in it, but it is small and simple enough to be embedded in a web browser for a reason. (So it's not a complete waste of time to test).

I think its problem is that the Blitz Runtime Window is embedded inside another window. It confuses every method I've tried so far except my own (since mine isn't automatic).
I could be wrong, though... I don't really remember how this one ended up. (Source is included in the download I think, if you want to observe further).

Yours might be able to sort it out, and if not it's something worth experimenting with to enhance flexibility.
(You too, Tim :b).

Hmm... I'd better not tout *********** here. This thread is scary enough as it is!
*Hides signature*

Mr. Picklesworth : Here we go :)
http://www.osakit.com/nuclear.html

Oooh, nicely done.

Although, to be fair, the build I tried with igLoader was a much newer build so I could have unknowingly changed something, thus breaking it there.
(And I never asked Tim to try it himself; he's probably better at igLoaderifying things than me).

Well, I do not think it has anything to do with any change to your code. It all depends on the technique used to get the Handle of the app being run!

Actually with the new version of OSA Kit I am using 4 different ways to get that Handle so if Plan A failed there is Plan B if failed.....etc and it is hard to fail for the 4 plans!!

Edit :
Oh and I am sure Tim can do it too!

Ah, that's what I was wondering.
I can only think of 3 ways off the top of my head (aside from the "get the other guy to do it" solution), so you're way ahead of me!

Actually I lied :) or to be more specific there is one more technique I am using for GUI apps, have a look here
http://www.osakit.com/wordit.html

It embeds the app perfectly but there is a problem with Painting the window correctly and you need to refresh it by hitting another tab and get back again to it or minimizing and restoring the browser window again to be shown correctly!

The technique I use work with 99.99% of all small GUI apps I tested except the above one....so I working on perfecting it ;)

How much for the source code?

This sounds great anyway sphinx. This is a definate purchase for me. Just have to wait till payday.

:)

Ok, show me where I can download and use igloader on my website with a full site license, allowibng me to use unlimited games with it, for free.

www.pjio.com - upload you games and then copy the embed code to have the games on your own website - For example : http://www.eiksoft.com/eik/games.htm

I have seen what ig can do. For me, and all the PC's I tested it on, the games would wobble in the window making them unplayable. There were adverts and long loading times.
When did you first notice this? Feedback is very useful you know. Adverts pay for the site, loading times depend on the size of the files and how the developer packaged the file. For example ig could download and run a small program stub and then stream the additional content in the background.

That was fixed a couple of months ago - grab a new copy of the plugin from igloader.com - I'll be releasing a major update within a few weeks to fit in with the new site.

problem with Painting the window correctly
This is solveable by subclassing.

Maher, sorry about this - I'll button my lip.

Great work Sphinx.
works and cheap.

How much for the source code?

I tried that before and it think it was a bad idea unless I get a descent offer which I can not ignore ;)

This is solveable by subclassing.

Although subclassing can do great things I always prefer keeping it simple and clean! though I may use it with the planned feature ;)

Great work Sphinx.

Thanks BlackSp1der... though I prefer Works and Affordable ;)

Nice work Maher!

Will you be sending an email to previous customers of the new news? Any deals?

Sure.. previous customers will get the new update for free as promised :)

The Neuron Reactor thing works fine for me under Vista using IE7.

Thats a relief :)

JoeRetro : Email should be in your Inbox by now!

Maher, sorry about this - I'll button my lip.

If you were truly sorry you'd edit your google whoring posts down to nothing and take the entire discussion to email.

Got it!

Thanks Maher!

Hi Sphinx

Do you have plans to create a plugin for other operating systems, like OSX or linux?

ps. I've also sent this to osakit_at_osakit_dot_com but some others round here may also be interested

~alligator

Actually it is very early to tell about a OSX or Linux version! at least I have to wait after the coming update which will be a surprise :)

Though you can use CrossOver Office to "emulate" the browser plugin and you will be able to use OSAKit in your Linux browser, Konqueror.

Ps. could you please edit your post and change it to osakit_at_osakit_dot_com I have hard times with emails :)

this (OSA) is a good idea, but it's too expensive for multiple games! but still, awsome idea.

I have been playing with the demos on site and I am impressed... BUT I couple of things have been left out of the FAQ:

1. Which blitz langs does this support? Does it support PUREBASIC as well?
2. Can this work fullscreen or does it have to be a windowed app?
3. Can this use the server connection to update files on the server via java, asp, or ??? (you know create a high scores list etc.)
4. What about multi user support... would that crash the program? Could this be splunked even for a limited MUD (maybe up to 20 players?)

feel free to use anything here that makes sense (not that I claim to make sense) on the FAQ page on site!

It looks like a good product. I am hoping I can use this with some of my older Blitz+ stuff.

this (OSA) is a good idea, but it's too expensive for multiple games! but still, awsome idea.

Well, I thought OSA Kit pricing structure is very affordable compared to competitive product! :) and I believe it IS!

Rook Zimbabwe : Thanks a lot for these questions, I will update my FAQ, but for the record :
1. Which blitz langs does this support? Does it support PUREBASIC as well?

It should work with virtually any Win32 EXEs even it works with ClickTeam's Game Fusion, Games Factory...etc have a look here http://www.osakit.com/bonbon.html

2. Can this work fullscreen or does it have to be a windowed app?

Sure!, It works in both Full screen and Windowed mode

3. Can this use the server connection to update files on the server via java, asp, or ??? (you know create a high scores list etc.)

It is up to you to do that (should be done from inside your game)

4. What about multi user support... would that crash the program? Could this be splunked even for a limited MUD (maybe up to 20 players?)

Well, try this Multi-Player game made with GarageGames Torque Engine (Old version of OSAKit though so IE only, James should update that soon) http://www.jamestadeo.net/play/forestfire/index.asp
