Anyone got a 8800 GTX?

Anyone here actually got a GeForce 8800 GTX?

If so, what's it like to have it? I'm pining for mine. My new system has not been despatched yet - probably will be on its way tomorrow. I'm starting to twitch a bit more than usual.

What card have you got - what make is it?

I have no idea which card I am getting (ie Leadtek, BFG, XFX, etc). All I know is it is a 8800 GTX.

I really, really, really want to run 3D Mark 2006 on it.

did your new pc include a big quality psu?

I selected a Tagan 700W TG700-U25 Dual Engine SLI Ready Power Supply.

Should be just about okay for 2x 8800 GTX's.

I hear its a pile of stinkin' ****..
that is, at least until I get my sweaty paws on one :D

How do Microsoft expect Vista to appeal to the masses when its main selling point is way out of normal peoples reach?

Luckily my new system has an E6600 - plus a bitchin' mobo.

It will still be fast, what theyre saying is the 8800 is so fast that you need a powerful cpu to push data fast enough to stress an 8800.

You should always try to get XFX , I find they are the best.

I haven't bought many gfx cards in my day, so it's probably not worth much, but my XFX 6600 GT has been wonderful.

For some reason though, I feel inclined to pick up an ASUS or eVGA card when I do upgrade.

Microsoft doesn't care, they will force you to upgrade to a super high end system just because they have such a monopoly on the desktop. You don't have much choice, and they know it, and they will use it to make more money.

I gots dual 7800GTXs... that's gonna satisfy my graphics card needs for quite some time.

I find BFG to be the card to get. I currently have a 7900GTX. I have had multiple eVGA and had problems with several. One even came with the memory clocked so high in the BIOS, it wouldn't run anything until you flashed the correct BIOS. BFG has the best warranty and support around.

eh, vista runs flawlessly on my 6600GT, much better than XP so I'm not sure what MS have to do with it really.

I considered a 8800 but its pretty pointless as i already have a 7800, unless i upgrade to vista.

That is not fair - "Mustang" has cheated. I bet I bought my card before him. The thing was brand new when I ordered it. That is CyberPowerPC's fault - if they had delivered it then I would have had it first.

Yes, you are right... I never even said that *I* bought it! Got it for my work PC and it's not even installed yet, just sitting in its box on the office floor... been too busy to install it! But basically I have it on my possession, sort of, although I don't own the card - you still can get it at least installed first and can gloat that you actually bought it! :P

Don't bicker guys. I had two of them installed in my machine more than 3 weeks ago. :P

And before Puki goes ballistic, I was "cheating" in a similar way to Mustang :) I work for a computer magazine testing hardware and we usually get the new stuff way before most of other people. ;)

I'd like to see more of 1 - so I am going for number 2.

I "have" number 3... and all those cover gfx are pretty fugly if you ask me - especially the number 3!

Does putting some CGI bint on these things really shift more units? Sad.

The weird thing to me is surely the pictures on the cards are not visible when the card is installed - even if you have a window side panel.
