Is the Internet dying?

Is it me or is the Internet just gettng slower and slower?
My mate on his different ISP has noticed it too. For about the past 2 weeks, Yahoo Mail is slower, so is this forum, google, pretty much every page I visit takes about 4 or 5 seconds longer to load on average. I've lost count how many times I have to keep clicking links more than once to get them to hurry up.
My broadband at times feel as if it almost back to 56k modem, ironically the only things that are still fast are downloading big files. Generally, web usage has gone really slow lately. Anyone else experiencing this?
Is this the ISP's ploy to get you to upgrade to faster broadband? I dunno, or maybe internet websites are now using servers powered by Vista technology. I dunno what it is, but I do know that it's starting to get annoying.
I don't get the impression my (adsl) connection is slower.. Years ago I started with 1MB adsl, and it was fast enough.. until some months ago my subscription did 6MB after already having been upgraded towards 2MB and 3MB in the past. I just took a cheaper subscription so I'm back on 3MB.. way fast enough. :P
it's all the ads and javascript..
run NoScript in Firefox, and see the webpages load in a second.. :)
Dude, where is NoScript? It's worth a try :)
Works like a charm, thanks for the tip.
Doesn't work for me. No Script is more like "No Download" :'(

And what's wrong with FF Tools > Options > Content > Java / Javascript toggle?
Its a per-site toggle. I installed it, and it works ok.
I wonder what the factors are in things seeming to slow down on Blitzbasic.com. .. perhaps people are getting intimidated by the super-huge budget games that are out there and hard to compete with, maybe it is off-putting or demoralizing, maybe there isn't enough encouragement by BRL, maybe there isn't enough excitement about new products from BRL or the appearance of time being put into making the website better. Or maybe people are going through a lazy period, or there isn't enough advertising, or something else?
The internet might be running slower due to the "Britney Spears" pictures that surfaced - the one with her and "Paris Hilton" (well, 'with' as in sitting next to) - took me a while to get in and grab my copies. I think there is probably a lot of people looking for those as the word spreads about them.
Enay:
something with your firewall?
Its all the trillions of spam messages getting queue'd for sending. Stupid spammers, I've heard they've even started getting into PHPBB forums. Fags. All spammers should die.
Level 3, one of the main carriers providing bandwidth between UK and the US is allegedly experiencing technical difficulties.
People with Zen as their ISP have reported this issue (Zen peer directly from Level 3).
I have noticed some slowdown myself, with even slashdot taking a long time to load.
Same thing has been happening with my cable connection (soon switching over to fiber optics). It's probably because of the millions and millions of people shopping online for the holiday. Of course, this excuse only works if your Internet connection isn't dedicated.
Speaking of the internet going slow, the Alternetive site for Blitzers, SytaxBomb seems to be down, along with a couple of others. Im just glad Blitz is still here. Im feeling a little lost and was praying this one isnt down. Is anyone else having sites going down lately too?

On a slightly different note, savetheinternet.com (a serious link), those in the US should have a squizz.
Lol, shutdown the internet. Javascript error, popup blocked... lol!

If your browser had allowed it, it would switch to fullscreen mode, and pretend to shut down windows, ending with the Win9x "It's now safe to turn off your computer" screen.
I tried that link again today and it worked this time!
I think I definitely sense an instant improvement, cheers for that Flameduck (and everyone else) :)
Ads, streaming video, Bosting, people scamming for porno, email and SPAM, all that crud clogs the net!
shutdown the internet. Javascript error, popup blocked... lol!
I just tried it in IE6, and I must say that it worked *much* better in the old IE5.0... Under IE5 it doesn't give the popup warning bar, and that one switched to complete full-screen kiosk mode, with no remaining windows and such around it, with no obvious way to get out for those not to familiar with Windows/IE...
It's that internet wide AI program that has become self aware that is eating up all the bandwidth.

Google?
More seriously, rather than AI, it's more likely Artificial
Stupidity like youTube that's taking up all the bandwidth.
