Lets see if theres an influx of new people to the Blitz site.
what did they say about it? or was it just a mention?
A couple of paragraphs and screenshot for each.
Says how the original Worms was programmed in blitz Basic.
Then Says you will proberly need a book to help you understand Blitz, recommends the tuturials and the community site.
Well, "book to understand blitz" is just a bit too little info. A book about BASIC in general, or perhaps a book about the basics of procedural programming might do, you only need to learn blitz syntax in addition.. which all comes from the manual. So at least they should divide complete n00bs from ppl with experience in another language..
A book about BASIC in general
Not sure about that. BlitzMax has an odd 'hybdridness' about it. You should really think OOP but be into basic.

I think it's somewhat disturbing that nothing else noteworthy enough has been written in a Blitz language in the last 15 or so years.
.. but then the world *has* changed.
Maybe they mentioned it for historical effect.
Im not sure the original worms was written in Blitz, i know the demo was but i thought i read it was redone when made into a proper game.

Yep. Andy Davidson made Total Wormage in Blitz Basic (Amiga). Team 17 however decided to use something else to make Worms.
Yep I noticed that this month when I was skim reading it - I meant to read the full article but I forgot to come back to it.
What's confusing is that BlitzMax doesn't yet support 3d. It's all rather odd. However fortunately Blitz3d is still great for 3D stuff as well as 2D.

Platypus was the next worms in my opinion, but for some unknown reason noone seems to ever want to ask/care what the game was written in. Probably because people don't care what games are written in, it's all about the games.
BlitzMax is much better than blitz3d for 2d, simply because it is a much better "basic" dialect with support for object oriented programing. When max3d is released the same applies. Actually (in many ways) simon minib3d already is and is a good hint of things to come.
I only use a Mac for programing these days (much nicer, really). Blitz3d is a Windows product.
I am now finishing my second game in Blitzmax. I have learned so much in the last year about it... it's almost scaring. I have limited clues on how I was able to actually get my first game published. Regardless, it has sold over 28000 USD in 6 months so far - not bad for three months of part-time work from 2 people. And, yes, it comes out on boxed format in the US this christmas (Mac+Windows), so I expect it to sell more units thru bestbuy, Apple stores, etc. Considering that BlitzMax+MaxGui cost of 110 USD, it's quite a deal BRL is offering.
I also own Torque (TGB+TGE), which are quite impressive, but never got anything out of it and I keep choosing BlitzMax for every project.
I wish I knew a bit more about BRL roadmap, I wish for better documentation, I wish someday they would do some things differently, but above all I want to keep thanking them for the amazing tool they created already.
