PS2 quiz games
Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/PS2 quiz games
Thinking about some Crimbo entertainment, I was wondering about those quiz games you can get for PS2, that use the buzzer controllers. Are they much fun to play?
I don't actually have a PS2 but I can borrow one. I'd have to buy the buzzer thingies, though. Are they worth getting?
So, which of the quiz games would you recommend, if any? I'm more interested in the general knowledge ones, but if there's a good one for a specific subject, please let me know. I thought the 'Who wants to be a millionaire' one might be a laugh - is it any good?
Cheers for any oppinions!
The buzz games are good fun, if you can get 3-8 friends you have a blast.
I've got the general and music ones and am planning on buying another one as long girls can play it (sport version is a no-no) because they love it when they think they have a fair chance :)
As it turns out, I was playing that very thing just last night. The family went over to the sister-in-law's house and we were having a spirited 8-player (2 lots of Buzz controllers) game of the general knowledge one.
We had participants aged from 3 to 39, male and female, and everyone was in with a chance and everyone seemed to have a great time.
Highly recommended.
We been playing it alot and haven't had many repeat questions.
The music one is the best fun for us right now :)
OK, they sound like they're worth having a go at, then. Thanks!
I can highly recommend Buzz! - I played it at a mates house about a month ago (4 players) and got my butt kicked by his 12 year old daughter, grrrrr. We played the music one and the general knowledge one, both very entertaining.
It's very very easy to pick up, so even if anyone playing has never played video games they will get the hang of it in seconds.
"Who wants to be a millionaire" is also ok when playing in a group, but Buzz! is much more entertaining and put together better.
I see they've just released Buzz! Sports, but I've only played the general knowledge and music one. Definately get Buzz! over WWTBAM though as I guarantee it'll be more fun.
OK, cheers.
One thing I'm a bit concerned about is the level of questions, though. I watched a vid of Buzz! and the questions were seriously easy to answer. Can you set a level of difficulty, at all?

I'm not sure about that. I know that the questions are all not easy ones. The thing is though, it's not just knowing the answer, its the fastest to buzz in.
Ah, I see. :)
Get Sing Star! Really good laugh. And lots of different discs for it too :o) Good party game! If you have an eye toy, it takes a photo of you when you do well in the song ;o)
The games has different formats, on some you need to press the red buzz then answer, on some you get shown one answer at a time and the first to pick it gets the points. You also have rounds like points stealer where you can steal points of another player and the "look before you leap" is great fun, you get shown a blurred picture which slowly comes into focus and at the same time the 4 possible answers get shown one letter at a time :)
As far as the questions go, they're a good mix. You can't set a 'difficulty level' as such, but in the mix of ages I mentioned earlier (3 - 39), one question would have the young ones looking at each other with a confused look on their face, and the next would have the oldies scratching their heads. Then of course there are the ones no-one knows, and the ones *everyone* knows.
...which is where the 'buzz in first' part comes in to play. :o)
Thankfully there aren't too many 'country specific' questions, too.
