You OS is this the future?

Has anyone else been to :

And tried the web thingee... I played with the demo account for a while. It was not too bad on my cpu with my DSL connection. Intersting idea.

How can they justify calling a web site with a cheesey / slow Javascript-powered windowing system an operating system?
A web site requires an OS for both the client and the server, and you can't just call any open-ended computer program an operating system.
Eg: Why the heck would I want to run a web browser within a web browser? Just admit that it's a web site and create a frame! (Sheesh).


Anyway, it does look like a very neat way to manage and share web content and software globally. Seems a bit like how that supposed/rumoured/sort of confirmed Google OS would probably work.
I would much rather see something like it as a web browser than a web site.
...Or as a software suite for Linux (thus making it more useful to more people by being on the desktop from the start).

I like the little "Loading..." thing at the bottom right that shows up when things are loading, and I would like to see it elsewhere.

LOL an OS? Kind of like Foo. So basically to use this operating system, I need Windows or Linux, a compatible web browser, and access to the internet? Ha!

Nice idea though, could be expanded into something big.

I'd have to agree this is very much pointless.
A very poor implementation of a terminal Client. Which in itself isn't at all the future, as it's being used by a lot of larger companies for a long time allready.

The original idea of the internet and operating system design was to pack all computers into the network, and users would just have a small low cost terminal that connected to the million processors of the internet. :)

But history changed somewhere down the road, I think that's when hardware got alot cheaper. :)

Oh we are soooo supportive of new ideas here at Blitz... ;)

I was trying to figure out what the benefits would be to a company... OK you can access your company OS from any computer.

Well at work (at least for the next 6 weeks until they dump me... then back to the army and Afganistan!(MAYBE!!!)) I have to log in to Citrix so I can run the merger companies Great Plains software... Citrix has a nickname that sounds like what it IS and ends in ...rix, and Great Plains has been aptly renamed Great Pains...

This, however, is what I think they all want to do. Put all of it on the web and then they can force us to pay for access to it. Sure we would have portability but at the cost of paranoid freedom.

I consider whats on MY computer to be MINE!!! And I don't want to share it with anyone unless I want to AND I don't want to keep it anywhere else but here!
