Please help me choose a font for Holiday Bonus

Hiya, getting the right font for a game is very important but it's also a pain in the whatnot, especially if you are a Gemini like me and can't ever make your mind up ;-)

Anyway here are some candiate fonts for the main Holiday Bonus logo. The colour and lighting is not final, just look at the fonts and tell me which ones you like best. Thanks!

I've also included the title page so you can see what sort of style I'm going for, basically old-style turn-of-century posh...

Oh and most of these are mixed case, I could uppercase the letters in any one...



Oh here's one I was using as a stand in, call this number 0 (ignore the colour)

7, but 10 is more readable!

number 5 or 13...

I've got a feeling no. 10 may be the Disney font so could be a nono. No 1 is the one I used for Xmas Bonus :-)

The Y certainly doesn't look Desneylike..

I like 7. What font is that?

13 works well too imho.

The Christmas picture is superb btw.

Number 7 is called Amaze. Actully just checked and it's nothing like Disney. But it's like *something* and that worries me as I don't want copyright hassle.

Some of these fonts are more medieval than turn-of century and some are more 50s posh cartoons.

Yeah Bobby, the pic is lush. There's plenty more of those in the game.

I like number 5 the best. Stylish and readable, the perfect combination :)

hmm interesting so you all like number 5 then. I like number 10, well and 5 is OK and quite a few others as well, 1,2,7,13,15,16 maybe.

Anyway, after a think, i do agree that 5 has the best mix of "style and readability"

I don't like the "B" in 5. Other than that, I'd agree that it's a good mix of "style and readability".

Ahh, the blue one.. Number 0, definitely is the best, not too flashy and not Christmas style overkill.

*edit* the popular no.5 reminds me of a font you'd use as a title for Jack and the Beanstalk :)

has to be quite bold so it stands out over the background picture. Thin looks dodgy.

0 is cool, it's the hint scroll font from Oz. However, I may use number 10...

What's wrong with number 1? It's simple and good...

Chroma: yep :-) This *may* be my last one. I wanted to use the Bmax Match-3 engine that Oz was written in to make a Christmas game this year (due out in 2 weeks). It has got top quality art and music, will have 100 levels and is a bit different from Oz in a few ways. I might do some more match-3s but I really want to do something else now that I've mastered the match-3 :-)

BP: No I got them all from free font website, then did that basic effect in Photoshop Elements (just been downloading som COOL free effects)

I still think 5 would look best. About the title screen. It looks real nice but I`m wondering if it`s going to be a tad to busy looking for a title page what with all the options overlaid too.

Actually there are two screens: The baubles is the loading screen so on a gauge will be on it. The fireplace is the title and it will have more than one button but they will be along the bottom on the screen in the dark area.

Rook. Haha thanks dude. I though 5 was OK, but not great. The reason it worked was that the font is non-italic so is nice and readable. The other italic fonts didn't have a regular mode. In the end I skewed font 10 (went against public opinion ;-)) and made it vertical and stretched it horizontally to make it more readable and the results were very pleasing. You can see it here:

But well done in expanding your own artistic talent :)
