the Best ENGINE
Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/the Best ENGINE Man thats pretty awesome. Looks like it was recorded back in 2004, wonder what they've done to it now. Anyone reckon it looks alot like Oblivion. Maybe they used Unreal? :P
I saw this demo 2-3 years ago...anyway, impressive stuff..
Impressive... but really late. That video were showed two years ago or so.
And... why watch the video when you can directly play Gears Of War? It uses the Unreal Engine v3.

That's cool! Looks like they had the Hi-poly and low-poly conversion they were talking about in the beginning down flat for 2 years ago. 2 million polys for that winged guy, unreal.

An MMO based on the welknown Stargate-SG1 and Stargate Atlantis series,
This is prolly the first comercial MMORPG that is using the Unreal 3 engine. A few days ago they released 5 new screenshots to celebrate the fact they officially went out of Pre-Production and into the Main Production Phase \o/
Earlier news told us that somewhere early 2007 they would have the first playable private/public beta versions available. Since Production has started now, I'm thinking early 2007 is a bit premature. So make that july/august of 2007.

Lets be honest here, there's no way you can do this sort of stuff in a game environment, UE3 just isn't that fast, and I know this because I'm working with it every single day.
My new system will own and lesson this Unweazle engine thing.
I think often they are just talking about the model polycounts prior to normal mapping. You can certainly draw a lot of polys, but not with all those effects on.
Just look at the doom3 engine, entire levels were only about 30,000 polys.

Yes some of the source models are very high-res, but the in-game stuff is still pretty simple, normal mapping hides a lot.
