is it just me or has the amount of traffic on the forums gone down significantly compared to a year ago or two?

Things do seem a lot slower around here just lately. It's not just here though, it seems most forums I visit are a bit on the slow side.

Maybe they're all coding or something, which reminds me....

Seems like it... A couple of high-volume posters like Noel have been banned since then.

It basically died when Off-Topic was removed and restrictions were put on what people could post.

Yeh, a lot of people did actually leave.

The problem here is that many people involved in Blitz no longer actually program or have any real desire to code anything seriously. When Off Topic went, they went too.

Some see Blitz as a way of being - like Hip Hop. Some people purely came here to 'hang out' and see what was going on - see what everyone was doing, etc.

Basically, this site was a meeting point for Blitzers worldwide - active or retired. Some of those people knew each other for years going back to the Amiga days (over a decade ago).

Blitz sort of lost it's 'atmosphere' - changing from being like a cafe to being more like a library.

..pretty much like Puki said...

My gosh, a normal post from Puki :D

But yeah, what Puki said.

Me os from Amiga time. But from Amos basic LOL :)

I guess they just dont want to have to moderate off topic discussions.

still i find the forums helpful and thers still enough people here to help out when people get stuck with something. i think it is a shame about noel but he can be a bit cutting to say the least, he was a bit hard on me asking a basic question when i started out. but he does do some great stuff

Seconded!

Shame, cuz this topic prolly won't last much longer and not many ppl will be able to see that ;]

I agree mostly with what's said above. In a way I'm glad off topic has gone because it means less bitching which is always a good thing but at the same time it does mean fewer people post since they've not always got something to add to technical threads that already have 10 or so replies.

Hopefully people are doing what I'm doing and programming more.

Noel doesn't suffer fool's gladly, that's his 'problem' - not that I'm implying you're a fool, Pete! :)

Plus he's 17 and has to cope with all those raging hormones, too! :P

You can still catch him on IRC, if you really want to talk.
