Looking for an Artist to team up with

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Looking for an Artist to team up with

I am looking for an artist to team up with me to finish my game. Your payment will be an undisclosed amount worked out between us and will be paid from first profits from the game until you are paid in full. This is the best I can do.

I have solid gameplay and there's no puzzle game like this out there. It's easy to play but a challenge to play well. You can play the game a number of different ways. If you are serious about this project please drop me an email. The work would be about 8-10 backgrounds and some sprite graphics. I will need to see some samples too.

Post for more info.

what kind of think do you want? style etc. cartoony / realistic?

yes some information about the intended style and a timeframe would be interesting.

Weird...I thot I replied to this yesterday but I guess I didn't hit Post. :(

The style would be similar to the graphics in Zuma and the overall theme would be a magic setting (think Harry Potter). The timeframe would be a couple months or longer until we're happy with the graphics. This can be either short term or if you are content with the product we can do future projects also.

I am sorry but i do not have the resources for a full-time envolvement at this time.
Maybe i could help you out from time to time with a couple of images anyway if you are interested.

You may also have to watch out for a genious PRODUCT MANAGER who will actually sell your product. Producing a good product isn't enough these days. But we aware of the sharks in those waters.

@North: sure that'd be cool

@jfk: huh?

Edit - sorry off topic

Still looking...anyone interested?

I personally think you will have more luck when you've got a few finished mini-games on your own website, then people will start to ask you if they can work with you. Anyway good luck!

Or you could do what Grey did with Xmass bonus and produce the graphics as best that you can yourself and sell it.

You can then wait to see if you make some money from it and invest in an artist for the next version.

I've already had someone contact me...but I'm still throwing it out there to see if anyone else is interested. I think making a few mini-games would be a waste of time imo. And just delay the release of this game for about 8-12 months.

I have the money to invest in the art. Great advice guys but I'm really just looking for an artist to team up with. Simple as that.

Actually, I think that everyone can draw, even non-artistic people. What non-artistic people might not like are artistic tools that are created with an artistic mindset. so, a programmer might be perfectly able to draw things, but not with Photoshop or whatever artistic tool.

Art isn't far away from code, first there is an idea and the coder finds a way to convert this idea to code. And now for art: first there is an idea for some image, then the coder has to find a way how to realise this idea using.. code? a script-language? a raytracer? (povray) something completely different?

I can produce medium quality art, probably much better if I put the time into it. But that goes the same for everyone. The main point is quality. Someone who has a passion for art and has spent years doing it and practicing with Photoshop etc will produce far better art than someone just tinkering around.

I think in the end it's a time and quality issue. People who specialize (ie. careers) can do it faster and with better quality. That makes it more efficient and produces a better end product.
