Good review...
Congrats to you guys.. :)

Congratulations!

Absolutely friggin' awesome. :)

Great news! I also enjoyed reading this at a jaunty angle.

Congratulations!
An inspiration to us all :D

Yep, its like watching an old episode of Batman.

Good review though... well, the sentiment, I mean. Games mag journos certainly have an odd style of writing that suggests they wish they worked for The Daily Mirror.

80% is good, though. ;)

Brilliant! Well done...

top marks, cool! Also the pricing structure you have is certainly innovative.

Excellent, congrats both :)

Great Job!!! I bet they would have given you 100% if you had a small single player tutorial!!! Fantastic!

You guys rock!

Very excellent! May you have a long life of successful indie development!

This is most exciting.

That is great seeing a Blitz game being recognized so well as a great game.

Looks like a great game, I should look into it further...

Wait a minute here.

Let's just step back and smell the sausage.

It seems to be that the "Pickfords" and "Gillen" are not exactly strangers to each other.

Right, "Pickfords" - simple question - did you or did you not 'suck up' (in any way) to "Gillen" prior to the review?

The way I see it you lot have literally been hanging out with each other.

Not.

I hope you're joking.

What about your brother?

Fully deserved - that is no mean feat !!

nice.

this must be the most successful blitz3d game ever.

does anyone know of any other game more successful?

Blitz Oblivion caused world-wide excitement.

Well done!

Very nice, good reviews overall it appears from publishers that mainly touch things from the AAA companies.

Was curious though, ever thought about adding mentioned single-player/tutorial modes? Seems to be a common thing mentioned among said reviews.

Well the tutorial stuff will be dealt with. Although it won't be a tutorial because I just don't believe they work.

One player mode will happen but it'll be a fairly huge job to do right. These kind of games tend to play well as 2 player or 1 player but not both. Advance Wars for example is quite weak and long-winded as a 2 player game but fantastic as a 1 player game. Naked War is heavily skewed in the 2 player direction - no wars of attrition or tedious end games.

puki - seriously man, have you actually played NW?
It easily deserves the rating it got, with or without any back-slapping shenanigans, which I doubt went on anyway.
In my opinion it deserves 9/10. It is an absolute masterpiece and something everyone on this forum can look up to as inspiration for our own creations.

GRATS! :D

Excellent work, 80% is still an 'A' grade.

Excellent work, 80% is still an 'A' grade.
Darn right! (Although 80% is a B, but it should be an A :b)
And let us remember that this is PC Gamer here; the same people that absolutely do not hesitate giving 50% or less to immensely expensive AAA titles that took 2 years and DirectX 9 to develop.

John: For single player stuff, perhaps you could check out a sort of puzzle-style design like that mode in Worms?
That way it isn't quite as important to write complicated AI but the game would still be still fun.
That could also make single-player quite different from multiplayer so the two modes don't cancel each-other out and so they both are fun in their own ways.
Anyway, something to ponder if you haven't already...

Again: well done!

Well done again! Great to see not just a Blitz game, but an Indie game getting such great press.

Come on guys, Puki is ALWAYS joking! :)

LoveChess, probably.

Love chess never got a good rating, most mags gave it a very average score or slammed it. this is number one by quite a way at the moment

I do see what JOhn means about 1 player games being massively difficult. To make it good. The computer either has to cheat or it will be too easy. Anything else would be a hueristic program worthy of Turing!

I think the main point is that a GOOD one player mode woudl be a very different game. I don't think anyone has pulled of a game in this style which isn't skewed to either one player mode or two player mode.

I don't want to add a 'tick box' one player option. When we do implement a one player mode it'll be a substantial product in its own right.

Try Future Tactics (available in bargain bins everywhere) for our take on a one player mode.

Very odd...my post yesterday didn't stay here either...wth?!

Great job John and Ste. We always knew Blitz > Darkbasic. Now we have the proof! :-)

Well done - it's great to see your efforts rewarded in print.
