Just finished Gears Of War.

It was awesome. The cover system and the progression of the game really make it a great game. Most importantly the controls. Very finely tuned, very very well implemented. I never once was killed let alone injured or frustrated because of a control issue (which there are none!). The story is left to be mostly told in gameplay. The experience and the interaction between characters durring gameplay create the story and backgrounds of each character.

Truth time. Gears Of War does not live upto the graphical expectations from screenshots/video demonstrations. Those were pretty high. (here it comes) But! Once you start playing Gears all pre-conceived notions will be thrown out the window because this game does have the most polished and consistant graphics ever! They are amazing! This is the most beautiful game made to date!

Also, the online multiplayer is great. You can play the entire main campaign online with a friend or select from three different team deathmatch modes! And even better yet! no lag! None of the online gameplay has lags and it is very slick.

Have a 360? Get it! I wan't to play people over the age of 14.

If that rumor comes true that amazon might sell 360's for $100 (yeah, riiiight) - I'll definitely snap one up along w/ a copy of GoW.

Unfortunately if that doesn't happen (and I'm sure it won't), I've only got enough money for a Wii for the time being.

Is Gears coming to the PC?

On beyondunreal.com:

A possible PC version of Gears of War has been confirmed by Epic Games, possibly featuring some bonus content not seen in the Xbox 360 version. However, with the PC port not taking place until after the Xbox 360 version's release (expected in late 2006), its likely that we won't see Gears on the PC until 2007.

Game was great! Finished co-op on hardcore with a friend in two sittings. Attempting to beat it on the 'insane' setting now.

I agree, the UE3 demos seemed to be running on souped computers (or maybe even pre-rendered), but Gears is definitely the best looking game to date.
