What is this The XGameStation thing?

Fill me in - I need all the juice on this.

The story so far was I kept hearing about this Hydrant thing all over the place - but not much coming up on Google. Anyway - I eventually made a connection with this Hyrant thing and some sort of XGameStation Kit.

However, too much for me to read.

So, someone juice me up good. What's the story here and what time is it?

Just give me a run down of the situation.

It's a simple old fashioned console that you program at hardware level, you control everything right down to the timing for screen updates.

It's like an open version of an old console, like the Atari 2600 or similar. Comes with full in-depth hardware documentation and an e-book explaining how to hack the thing from the very lowest level possible. You're supposed to learn about the hardware from it. It does come with a nice little BASIC compiler, though.

I've fancied one since before they came out, but funds have prevented it... and I'm not that good with low level stuff anyway, truth be told.
