The 450watt PSU requirement, are they saying that just for a capable system with the card installed, or 450 watts for the card itself, and add the additional wattage required for other components?

The test were made at 1600, 1280 wouöd be more interesting to me.
And even if its faster than the x1950, ATI will strike back. Hopefully with a better designed card in terms of power consumption.

God, I am so excited - I hope this means the high-end DX9 cards are going to drop in price before Christmas.
I have my eye on both the X1950 XTX and the Geforce 7950X2 thing (whatever it is called - the 1 GB one).
Intel Quad core processors are coming - I hope that means the new Intel Core 2 Duo ones drop in price too.

@puki: I doubt it will happen that fast. I also want to buy a new gfx card, but I don't want to invest my hard earned money in an old DX9 card.
Well, I suppose price will be a factor - if something like a X1950 XTX drops to say £150.00 then I think it will be more popular than a DX10 card that costs double.
The factor here is the uptake of Vista is expected to be slower than it was to XP. This may or may not cause DX9 card prices to drop. Retailers will know that shifting stock of DX10 will be painfully slow if half the world are buying cheap DX9 units.
It is going to be interesting to see how all of this pans out.
Developers are already aware that their bulk audience could still be XP and DX9 for what could be another year.
It is all a bit unclear as this whole thing involves people changing 2 main components in their PC.

I just think its cool to see the kind of performance one can expect with the next generation of cards. There's bound to be an entry level one like my trusty 6600GT out within the next 6 months.
And I really don't like ATI cards, only tried 2 recently but both were problematic and had awful drivers and control panels.

I wish graphic card manufactures would bite the bullet and provide external power supplies for their kit, or make it optional at least, with so many gadgets you can hook up to a pc nowadays, the lecky guzzlers should use their own! :)

And the RRP of $559 (around £314) isn't too extravagant either.
You'd think that they'd know better than to just convert the dollar price to £'s and assume that's what the price will be. They're actually RRP'ing for about £500, which is pretty extravagant. Particularly when you see people complaining about the price of a PS3.
They are cheap when you buy them with a system.

You can opt for the X1950 XTX for £256 or the 7950 GX2 £318.
However, for the extra few quid the new boys are looking good.

Well, tell you what. I'm gonna see what graphics card will actually be good with Vista gaming come next year, I'm not gonna hold any stops on anything yet, I'm not ruling out a card like this, either. I'm hoping that this would work with with 2 GB DDR RAM, 500 GB HDD, and an AMD 64 x2 5000+ at the very least (considering that would be what nVidia recommends for a graphics card like this to work best).
£345 for a gtx is probably the actual price, sellers are just adding a premium because theres limited supply.
