This one interests me:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sq0bhrHhqN4I was thinking "Hm... not a bad commercial" until that last bit.
I dunno, somehow them saying their game console is Smarter Than Me
the Customer (well, not me) drove me off.
Weird, huh?
I seem to remember them calling me a dummy before, as well.
It may very well be true, but I'm sure other people would not appreciate it, and I don't need to be reminded!
Besides, them using multi-tasking as a selling point for the PS3's processor is overdone and not special in the slightest.
Hell, a DS can do two tasks synchronously!
Eg, video playback:
Moonshell does audio decoding on the Arm7 processor and video on the Arm9.
This introduces a problem called the race condition, where one thread gets too far ahead of the other (audio and video desynchronise). It will be interesting to see this with the PS3.
Probably won't happen because the hardware is bigger and better than the DS's (the DS is pretty simple) and the developers have big budgets, but having that many cores at once could get rather ugly with even the slightest imperfection.
There's definitely some neat stuff going on inside that thing...
