Sam n Max episode 1 released!
Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Sam n Max episode 1 released! I'll have to get this - I really miss adventure games.
Perhaps everybody that agrees should buy it - that's the only way companies take notice.
[EDIT]
Just bought it.

May well buy it soon...maybe for Christmas.
only cost $8 lol
Exactly! The quicker it sells the more the impact. FPS and puzzle games are great - but come on, lets open-up the genres here!
The more game styles available the better as far as I'm concerned.

$8? Didn't realise it was so cheap. OK I'll play this later with Helen hopefully.
Still love to see a Day of the Tentacle remake, that was better imho.

The entire "season" cost like $35. I think there are 6 - 7 episodes. Each ranging about 3 hours of gameplay.

Absolutely! The way you could influence a different time zone by what you did in another was a great idea. But an adventure games is an adventure game - bring on the puzzles!

Nah gimme The Dig II or a Ron Gilbert Monkey Island instead! :O)
Shoot the cheese!!
Shuddup, Cicero - your turkey and gravy is ready! ;)
The storyline is a little bit weak and confusing at a first sight but after some time it makes kind of sense... :O) As a german i found the psychological tests a pretty hard puzzle. The rest was quite easy...
Yay! It was released!!! ... and I must say IT SUCKS!
Watch the cartoons (or play the original) instead! [a http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-7009833298249474347&q=sam+%26+max]<CLICKIE>Episode 1 here!</CLICKIE>[/a]

The Dig II
Yeah I'd like to see that too.Anyone seen any reviews, only we've heard "it's great" and "It sucks" and I want to know, even if it's only $8.
I think people should support the concept - ie something different to the many FPS's out there. hopefully it will be good - too early to say yet. Ofcourse I understand people being cautious with their money.
My first impression was one of pure nostalgia and good feelings - maybe this will change - who knows. But a good feeling none the less.

Yep. Gamespot gave it about 7.7, IGN gave it 8.8, Adventure Gamers gave it 8, EuroGamer gave it 9, JustAdventure gave it a B+ and SlashDot had a positive review ( they don't give scores, do they? )
It's universal high marks all round, which is very rare for adventures.
so high marks but not mega marks...Anyway that's good enough for me as I like the subject matter. Thanks Gabriel.
It's $9, not $8!
I bought it after playing the demo. I've been starving for a good point and click adventure and this was just the right length for me since I rarely finish long games, but I would still have finished it if it were twice as long. I don't know if I'll buy the next episode or not, but I had fun with it. I thought the car chase scenes were clever. And I liked the store owner. This was actually the first Sam and Max game I've played, so I can't compare it to the older one(s), but it was a fun few hours. Not frustratingly difficult. Perhaps a bit too easy, but I'd much rather it be too easy than frustratingly hard. The only annoying bit was repeating the psychic stuff over and over.

I like Sam & Max but I hate this episode stuff. Sorry, I'll buy a full priced game with lots of contents but not these dozens of episodes.
Well you can always wait until they release the final part and get them all for $35 on a cd. That's the same thing as a full priced game with lots of contents, no?
I just finished the first Episode. Even though it is short, it's good fun. I have to say though they where a little conservative with the creativity that is known from the original Sam & Max games. It isn't bad at all, but I hope they can get closer to the original in the next episodes.
I'll defenetely get them all on 1 cd... It least it will be worth my time - I hate playing a game that lasts about an hour...
TellTale doesn't have my hopes, but their Bone: The Great Cow race is a much better outing in gameplay (not the humor or characters mind you).
I've never liked the original game a lot, but I love the cartoons and the characters in general.
There's a lot of stuff that I didn't like about this game.
- Easy puzzles. Normally I wouldn't mind, but this is more like "find-the-next-hot-spot-and-click-to-watch-a-new-cutscene". The cutscenes are not bad, but I would like a game to be a game, not an slightly interactive cartoon.
- Voice of Sam. Arrrrghhhhhhhh!!! Such a good dialouge ruined by competely emotionless performance!!! OMG! Who's responcible for this??? I'm furious about this one...
I only hope it will be better, but I won't be buying next one until they all come out in a compilation or something...
Shame...

Heyy. That first screenshot...
Is this a true remake of the original? I thought it was great! :)

Out of 10 i would give it a good 8 - emotionally a 9 ;O).
For something like The longest Journey in comparison i would give a low 5.

Episode2 is out by now. The puzzles have improved, great new characters but it got a bit shorter than episode1. All in all it's another great adventure and if you can handle the annoyance which shows up with the gt deal and episodic gaming generally then you should get it...

Thanks for the heads up. Really enjoyed episode 1 ( funny adventures usually make me cringe, but this is genuinely chuckle out loud funny ) and I'm gonna grab up episode 2 just as soon as I've finished work for the day. Otherwise, work would go out the window.
;O) I wish you some pleasent hours of fun. I think you'll enjoy it as it also feels a little bit more polished on the riddle side as well and there are some great new characters like the female Director and Hugh... :O)
