i bought BF2 yesterday, logged on and had my butt handed to me over and over until I logged off out of frustration. I think I may have gotten into a clan server, or just picked the wrong night to think I could kill someone. I used to be in a BF1942 clan, and was a very good player, but sheesh...
Is anyone else playing? If so, what's a good server?
BF2 will take you some time to get used to it. But your '42 skills will carry over eventually. Take the standard grunt assault and just start pounding it out on maps like strike at karkand. That's a messy map that will get you better at getting your shots off first before your opponent. And make sure you are on a VERY low latency server because if you lag at all on bf2 you'll be eating a bullet before you even see the guy that gets you.
I've moved on to bf2142 now, but I wasn't too bad at bf2. Always in the top 10 if I played the entire map and had a nice selection of medals for top 3. :)
