Nice one John, here's hoping it leads to plenty more noobs for us to challenge. Oh, and some subs to you of course! ;-)

AWSOME!! John, I'm happy for you. A 9/10, very exiting to see some serious publicity for it. Good Job.

What I'm most pleased about is that an Indie game written by 2 guys in B3D is being reviewed alonside full price 'AAA' console titles. And we got the highest score in this months mag.

Good review, that. GamesTM give poor review scores at the best of times, which makes it an even bigger achievement.

Also proves the "Blitz3D's had its day" mob entirely wrong, which is a bonus.

It makes me want to code something.

[edit] By the way - I've said for more than 4 years that Blitz3D is capable of competing with AAA titles. Nice to be right, for once. ;)

Kudos to you John!! Great to see an Indie developer, using Blitz3d no less, taking on and kicking the 'big boys' asses!!

Any new projects in the pipeline?

Stevie

Good Lord John....I had no idea you guys worked on all those games. Truly astounding. I would say you guys are due your day in the sun. No doubt.

This is getting annoying.. ;O)

Just kidding: Congrats!

It makes me want to code something.

LOL I hear ya LOL

Im very happy for John. I think the site should have a Blitz award page. Anytime somebody gets an award or did something great with Blitz products, I think their should be just a page for that. And John definetly deserves to be on it.

Well as usual, goes to show it's 'people' that games, not tools.

> It makes me want to code something.

Let's hope you'll feel that way for several months instead of a few hours :)

This should be on that list of notable games on the home page!

Excellent work again, John :)

Of course B3d hasn't 'had its day'.
The basic purpose of the graphics technology of today - to render lots of polygons FAST - is always getting better, and Blitz3d is always able to harness that new speed.
Albeit, with a few poly count limitations and without pixel-perfect lighting... and running slower in Vista... but it's still there!
Just think outside the box and come up with graphics that use what is available in the best way it can be used (instead of trying to use DX7 for effects that are only really possible on more modern technology without a lot of unnecessary effort).
Naked War does that well; if I didn't know already, I would have no idea that it was running on DX 7! The visuals are really quite ingenious.

Well as usual, goes to show it's 'people' that games, not tools.

ya, but he still used Blitz. Kind of like in my line of work. When a subject is captured after a pursuit or chase,we ALL win as a team. Kind of feels like winning in a sport. If I go out tommorow and create horrid game using Blitz, and its recognized, I feel somewhat, letting down the team. Maybe I shouldn't feel so 'team' like. Its just my personality.:)

John you're a hero. I've always followed your work and I swear I'm going to get some Naked War time in soon. This is an amazing achievment and I think it only goes to show that Blitz3D is actually very much in its HEY Day. It's only now that everything's so very complete that its the perfect tool for making solid 3D games in small teams.

Congrats, looks amazing.
9/10 is amazing

Well done guys!

Congratulations, richly deserved!

Excellent review and well done :)

Top review! nice work.

Nice one.
Very well deserved praise, and really shows how polished a game can look without having to rely on all the new buzzword features.

So... What's next ;)

..well done..

It is a really nice outcome.

Cool, they really like it. Good summary too.

Exactly - truly inspiring.

Well done, and well deserved!

Amazing looking game - the thinking behind the game-play boggles my mind. Looks like you're back to your roots where you belong.

Takes a lot to get 9/10, but if anything deserved it it's Naked War. Congrats, John! You guys do great work! :)

Wowzers, I'm so happy for you guys! Well done, it seems the development time pays off now.

Cheers everyone. We had our busiest day yet yesterday. We even sold a few subscriptions!

KICK A**. Good job

We just broke 600 turns in one day. Our previous record was about 450. Looks like the review is bringing a lot of players in.

We hit game #2000 today as well. And turn #30,000 is probably about a day away.

John - if you don't mind me asking, did you use delta timing or render tweening in Naked War?

No. The logic runs at 40fps, the graphics are free running. I use tweening on the camera but nothing else so the unit movement is a bit jerkier than it should be.

I plan to tween everything else at somepoint. I've still got a zillion things planned for the game.

Ah, I see. Very interesting.
Thanks!

How many subscribers do you have now John?
