Anyone ever bought music from these people?

Couple of tracks on there I could use for my new game.

Licence agreement seems reasonable, as do the prices.

no but thanks for the link.

Interesting... but not sure about the first track on the ambient list: "Twitching like a bastard"?

Quite.

Heh heh. These people deserve money.

There's some good stuff on there, cheers for the link Gfk! :)

Dabz

Is that $29.99 a track for use on anything including commercial projects?

Yep.

I'd hope so!

That's really pricey. They don't deserve -that- much money. =]

pricey? Maybe for listening... but to be able to make money off it, that's cheap.

They're really nice. Every piece I listened to suggested a game. Inspiring, if you will. :o)

I don't know - maybe i was unlucky but of around 50 samples i listened to not one was nearly professional.
Most sounded so bad it reminded me of myself playing with trackers for the first time.

But reading the comments above i MUST have picked all the wrong tunes...

I haven't actually listened to any yet, but that soudns pretty bad.

Wow. Obviously "professional" is in the ear of the beholder, but of the 20 or so I listened to, not one didn't sound "just like a bought one".

To each their own though. :o)

YOU THE PURCHASER MAY NOT:

1. Re-record or change the music in any way without the written consent of the owners. (You may, however, edit the music to fit your needs.)

Isn't editing "changing"?

Lol, thats one hell of a contradictory statement :)

Grey area. With editing they're -I think- referring to fades or c/p'ed sections of the music. What you can't do is change the actual notes (if that would be possible) or perhaps add your own notes as an extra layer.. dunno.

I do wonder whether pitch-shifting counts as changing.. In some cases -a smurfgame ?- you'd want quirky/pitch-shifted music perhaps.

Best is to just contact 'em about all that..

And after listening to a few of 'em, I second the opinions that it sounds cheap. It's like some geeks buying some orch.exp.boards for a JV1080 and then yell 'y0, now I'm teh new 1337 Goldsmith'. Well there's more to orchestration than just that.. :P In total there were only a few pieces in 'Epic' that were somewhat 'good', nothing extraordinary tho. My experience with this kinda libs is that it's never really what you're looking after, and once you need subversions or a leitmotiv across the whole game, then you're stuck with generic library material.

In any case, dedicated tailormade music might be more expensive, but it's also more flexible and helps making the whole game/TV/thing sound uniform.

Maybe if all you need is a title theme. Most games come with multiple tracks you know. $100 almost for only 3 tunes... that's REALLY pricey anyway I look at it.
