Parent/Child Question

Ok I've been trying to figure this out all day so now I'll just ask for someone smarter then me to help.

Is it possible to make the child of an entity not a child anymore without deleting it?

I think you simply use the command 'entityparent child,0' but cannot confirm that for sure.
