So as I mentioned in the other halloween thread that got locked, (Please don't get this one locked too big10p!) tonight on my ajenda was attending a halloween party at a local bar.
I ended up going there about an hour after the official start at 9pm because I muddied up one white bathrobe and thought it just looked trashy not scary or funny, so I went to plan B which was use the nicer looking blue one I didn't want to get fake blood all over. Plus I tried this putty latex stuff to create scars and peeling skin that ended up being like vaseline and coating my face in an oily mess while simultaneously being sticky, yet not staying stuck to my face.
Now keep in mind that when I decided to go to this thing, I thought the prize was just a $100 gift certificate, and I spent about $100 total on all the crap that I got. I bought two bathrobes, a back scrubber, a set of rubber ducks, slippers, a rubber hand, a couple tanktop tshirts, two tubes of makeup, a set of makeup crayons, a white towel, the two different types of blood, corn syrup, red food dye (red food dye + corn syrup = fake blood, but I didn't end up making any), a bottle of white hair color spray to help make my hair look dirty, and that vaseline latex crap.
Anyway, so I went to the party, and surprise! Nobody's DRESSED UP AT THE DAMN BAR BUT ME! Okay, so fast forward a few hours and a few people have trickled in. But still the majority didn't bother. But at this point I've gotten a lot of nice comments on my costume.
Then 12am rolls around and in walks DUFF MAN. The judging is in 15 minutes. He says he made his costume, but the waitresses doubt he's telling the truth. Up till this point, I didn't really have any competition. Few half assed pirates, a girl in a devil costume, girl in an angel costume. Just your basic cheap store bought stuff. Anyway, I was worried about duff man. He had six cans of beer strapped to his waist. Beer was sure to steal votes at the bar. The only other guy I had been worried about was someone dressed as Ron Burgundy, but I guess he left early.
Anyway the band plays music and has folks walk by like a catwalk. The first two couple dance across the floor. I don't know how to dance, so I just shamble and drag one leg. :-) Nobody could hear over the band though who got the most clapping, so they have us go by again. And then they cut it down to just three, me, duff man, and the devil girl. The bar owner who is doing the judging has everyone cheer, and me and duff guy both get about equal cheers. Duff man cheated by chugging a beer, so I countered by making amusing faces. :-) Devil lady just waved.
Then the owner announced the winners, and it was I who came in first. :-) Woo! The audience cheered louder for duff man in the middle there but at the end it was even. I think the bar owner didn't want the obnoxious guy with the store bought costume to win which is why he did three rounds. :-)
So, the prize? Not a $100 gift certificate as promised! Instead, I got $300 in cash! (Duff man got $150 and devil lady got $50) So I actually made a profit in the end. And on top of that I got a free t-shirt.
Oh and did I mention I was sick this past week? Fever, chills, throat closing up making it hard to swallow or laugh, and then after all those symptoms have gone a somewhat raspy voice? Well it was funny when I was at the bar cause every time I tried to raise my voice to someone so they could hear me over the loud music my voice kept squeaking! Actually, it was more annoying than funny, but whatever. :-) I'm just glad I didn't have to say anything to the audience during the contest.
Now you're probably DYING (no pun intended) to see the pics. So here they are. :-)

It's hard to see in the first pic, but I do have makeup on. The color correction for the incandesent light made my skin look a realtively normal color. The second pic using flash shows it off better though. I basically blended blue and red to create bruises, and then mixed black and white to smudge a mottled greyish tinge everywhere else including my hands and legs. I swear I never thought I'd get that stuff off me when I got home, but for the most part it did wash off. My eye sockets are still a bit dark though from the black that I rubbed around there. :-)
Oh and the blood you see there on me is a combination of liquid vampire blood, and a gel based substance that advertises itself as looking like bleeding skin on the package, but there's no skin to be found, just red gel. But it saved the day as far as giving some 3d look to the blood, and was the only thing that would stick to the plastic back scrubber. I wanted to put a rubber brain over the back scrubber so I wouldn't ruin it, but I couldn't find one anywhere. You'd think finding a brain on halloween would be easy!
One last thing I forgot to mention. Some people couldn't figure out I was supposed to be a zombie! The band referred to me as "I've fallen in the shower and I can't get up guy"! Argh! Showering ZOMBIE! It's not difficult people! :-)
