I've made £8,000 this year (Well, £7k+ at the moment) but by the end of the year I'll have an £8K profit - I just cannot stop shaking with excitment.

I'm such a tight-ass, I'll probably just spend a grand on another Mesh computer. However, me paws are twitching.

I really, really need someone to admit that if someone just gave them an Alienware for free (like winning one in a competition), they'd just be so chuffed to bits with it. I mean come on, watch the video again - look at them - listen to the commentary, maybe loosen/take off some clothing.

Please tell me I am normal to want one.

Why would anyone buy Alienware computer? Those cases look pretty bad and nobody even looks at their own cases. And you get better specs just by building the computer yourself.

Someone I know well and to whom money is no object, asked me to source a PC for their kids and set it up. As a favour I said ok and went with Alienware for the preistige, styling and performance, it ticked all the right boxes.

I have to say I was quite badly dissapointed in the companies performance. For a start they delivered VERY late and the level of service you get from them is very poor.

Apart from the case (which you can source very similar models elsewhere), there is nothing paritcularly special about them. Also the cases are noisey, TOO BIG, and heavy. I have a very nice 100% aluminium which I've been using for the last 3 years and wouldn't trade it for the Alienware one for a second.

Also the materials supplied with the unit are cheap and tacky, the instructions basic and the support is not what you would expect (you can buy better support from Dell or HP very cheaply).

If you want a kickass laptop then look at the Rock Xtreme CTX PRO, you get more bang, a better product and at a cheaper price, although if you really want all the bang of a desktop you will have a rather HEAVY laptop.

IMHO Alienware are all style and no substance, I'm just glad I didn't spend the £2800 to find that out. I think the company probably DID start trying to do gaming stuff etc. but I think they found they could make a LOT more money just selling it as a brand. Like all technology stuff don't buy into this romantasising or brand loyalty garbage, it's just marketing for people who don't know what they are buying.

I must remember to put a case around my test rack... um.... Computer. As it sites the only little winking light thingees are for the power and HDD and I did plug in the 4 LED monitor that lets me see the boot process... (A moment of weakness!)

Cannot understand why anyone would want to add CCFL tubes to their box or custome glowing fans etc. Seems really silly. Much like turning your apartment into a Star Trek Bridge Set...

Understated designs are better; a well designed PC is one you don't notice. That plastic monstrosity looks like the bastard child of KITT and Darth Vader.

Computers for chavs. Nothing more, nothing less.

The computer equivalent of having a really cheap full suspension mountain bike which only gets ridden around town and would break if shown a real mountain.

If I want 'something with enough horsepower' I'd make sure I sourced every part myself. It's the only way I'd be able to guarantee the best CPU, motherboard, RAM and HD for my purposes.

I want either an ABit or Asus motherboard, an AMD CPU, low latency RAM with a lifetime warranty and a hard drive rated for 1 million hours MTBF with a 5 year warrany.

I do *not* want blue LED lights. I want red or green LED lights that tell me the PC is on and when the HD is being accessed.
