Orange Unlimited Broadband

Any Orange users here going to change over to the new Broadband unlimited package for £19.99? I`m thinking about doing it but cannot decide. At the moment I`m on a 2gb limit. Probably worth changing for a measly £2.00 extra for unlimited downloads.

Woah! 2gb limit. Bandwidth caps are the devil.

I would highly recommend paying the extra £2.00 for the unlimited package. Does it come with extra speed? I know Adsl depends on line attenuation and length but if they are switching you to ADSL2 or + you'll see an increase in your download/upload speed.

I'm with Be Unlimited www.bethere.co.uk. They advertise 24mb but I don't get anywhere near that.

Also, make sure it is Unlimited. Some, well nealry all ISP's that claim to be Unlimited have a Fair Usage policy which in a sense is a bandwidth cap.

OFFCOM shouldn't really allow them to advertise packages like that imo.

I'm with Orange (formerly Wanadoo, formerly Freeserve) and I exceed my bandwidth every month. They never complain, so why pay for what I'm already getting? ;)

Interesting - I didn't know Orange had this deal on offer. It's tempting to upgrade for a mere 2 quid extra, but I don't think I've ever exceeded my monthly limit - well not by much, anyways. I have cut videos short etc., so as not to use up too much bandwidth, though. Would be good not to have to worry about this stuff, I guess.

2gb....jeezus, I always cut close to my 20gb limit every month, sadly enough my ISP charges an extra $20 a month for unlimited bandwidth.

Regardless, for 2 quid (about $4 CDN?), that's a deal, long as they guarantee the unlimited, and not "within reason" crap other services pull.

There was an item on the radio the other day and it said that there has been a report published quite recently; in essence it said that about 55-65% of the UK has access to broad band. However what is perhaps more interesting is that of those that don't have it, most of them have declared absolutely no "interest in" or "intention to be having it".

This has apparently shocked those in the industry who have so far seen it. It means they have reached an earlier than foreseen saturation point. What it also means is that they will have to start fighting over who has most users now as well.

So, in considering what they can do next, they can tempt users away from other providers. In the case of those who have already capped (like the supplier to the OP), they can't readily cap an already capped service for fear of more customer churn (which will cost them significant money!), so their only weapon is to cheapen what they alread have. In the case of those who have not capped, they can cheapen but can also cap to recoup what that might cost, and hope that it does not induce churn given the alternative offered by the others.

I'd guess the best place to be, or get to be, is with one that is already capped, and hope they might need to drop prices further in the not very distant future, simply to compete for customer numbers.

There would of course be some who get it wrong and fold altogether.

To survive, a supplier must absolutely have critical mass, and in some cases even that won't save them.

These are things that any prospective customer would do well to consider right now.

Yeah, there is some 'within reason' clause on this deal, but you'd proabably have to be downloading crap 24/7 to fall foul of it.

Telewest/NTL do 2 meg unlimited deals at £14.99

I've been thinking of switching to Sky broadband when my current contract finishes, very cheap, or even FREE for the basic package!

Common,has anyeone ever slapped your wrists for going over the limit? No, that's because they don't bother unless you are a serial abuser. Save the money, spend it on ummm, sweets?

Geez, I would die if I had to suffer any kind of download cap on some of the connection speeds you guys are getting. I get around 3.5gb every day on a 512kbit connection, lol.

I'll be getting my MAC from BT tomorrow to change over to this new orange broadband deal.

£19.99 for upto 8mb broadband + phone calls via the livebox is not bad at all :)

Yes but will they provide you with the new hardware to access the net free of charge? Of course, I wouldn't complain, it's darn cool :)

Man, when TeleWest first did briadband it was a massive 8x dial up speed. now its 40x faster than THAT! so thats... 320x Dial up speed. Woah :)
