pjio nearing release - groups now online

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/pjio nearing release - groups now online

Hi all,

The group functionality is now working, there are some additions to the site that will be added over the next few weeks but all in all it's looking good.

So come along and upload your games, the traffic is tracking well beyond any expectations and if you have reservations then I'll be happy to put you in contact with others that have already uploaded and I know there have already been sales generated by people playing on the site - and it costs you nothing!

I hope you appreciate my work, yeah, I made this all by myself AND I'm looking forward to a BRL group... hint.. hint...

Edit: And the embedding will be made myspace compat.

EDIT: 'Player Comments' underlines when the cursor is placed over it. No biggy, but a bit annoying.
EDIT2: Does igLoader allow GUI stuff? Like buttons and file menu's made in MaxGUI?

Thanks po

Did not notice that - css again :)

Gui? why not? I've tested many GUI apps and they work fine. Just make sure they respond to the Windows messages ok and it'll be cool. Mind you Eikon had an issue with Bliz+ but I'm not too sure if it was a b+ issue or my plugin at this time.

Oooh, exciting!

I'm going to have to upload something before the wave of people from Digg and Slashdot as this web site quickly becomes the successor to GooTube.

Go, pjio!

Okay, a few things that I think could use fixing:

-The account page looks good (exceptionally notable is that it is one of the few account pages I know of with a delete button), but I think it's weird that Company Links are located there.

-Also on the Account page, I have no idea what this "Available Reports" box is. None of the links there seem to be doing anything, either.
Although, I soon realized that they lead to a page called http://www.pjio.com/account/?alert=There%20is%20no%20data%20for%20this%20report... however, no alert appears anywhere.
Additionally, the description for "Web Link" says "Click though to web page." I believe this should say "through" as with the link above it, not "though".
As well, I'm not sure about these saying "Click through"... it seems a bit of a weird command.

-When playing a game, the little chat thing shows up below the embedded game instead of beside it.
That seems to happen with both small and big ones.

I can't seem to get my game working on the Dev igLoader. It's a game using MaxGUI and a canvas. The game is inside of a window set with WINDOW_CLIENTCOORDS. I know I got all the paths right because I can hear the sounds at the beginning of my game, and I saw for a momment a window. Same in both Firefox 2 and IE 7. EDIT: Here's the game: http://www.blitzbasic.com/Community/posts.php?topic=64429

I've tried Apes also - all I get is the instruction dialog box embedded within the browser? Why is that? Do you run that dialog box before any other?

@Mr P, Thanks for the heads up - I've fixed most of the issues. Not sure if I'm going to keep the in-game chat - might lose that but it depends on the concensus, ie. what you people think.

Indiepath: I create the main window, then I create the Options window then hide it, then I create the Instructions window and hide that. So the Instructions window is the last to be created, but it should hide right away and only the main window should be present. Would you like to see the source code?

Hmm, I open the igloader installer (clicking Open instead of Save As in opera) and F-Secure tells me I just got infected with Zlob trojan downloader.

@Paul, that might well be the issue since igLoader waits for the application to report that it's in the ready state before embedding. Maybe if you created the options window and the instructions windows only when they are needed we might get things working properly.

Tim.

@vinylpusher

Thanks for the heads up, I just checked it out and it's the revision of the NSIS installer that I am using that's flagged as having a virus. I'm repackaging now!
