I have just downloaded a 200 MB archive, extracted it into the wrong folder, deleted the archive, then noticed how stupid I had been.
Luckily it didn't replace anything, but this of course is not good.
I did I quick hunt for a program that compares two directories and tells me what is in one that isn't in another. I found a few horrible sounding things that would cost me $15, one on Sourceforge that is only for Mac OS, and another on Sourceforge described as for images and only images.
Maybe you know of something nice?
Why not just do a file search in the specific folder using today's date as the creation date? Wouldn't that tell you what's been placed in the folder today?
Unfortunately, they were both created today.
Good idea, though...
how about opening the directory with windows explorer and sort according to modified date - this will also sort according to the time that it was modified.
Alas, the files are in many separate directories.
It's unfortunate that the Search thing won't filter down to the hour of creation...
The search will filter down to the hour of creation. When you open your windows explorer, set the folder option to detail. Then open the folders in question and sort according to modified date. Not only is the date listed, but the exact time of creation/modification as well.
The problem, however, is that there are innumerable directories and subdirectories here.
Doing it by hand would be... absurd.
Unfortunately, the Search tool doesn't allow me to fully utilize the detail of the information attached to files :(
Maybe another alternative Search program...
accept it as punishment for your stupidity and re-download.
Am I missimg somethig here? You do a search in the dir for all files ie *.*
Then you order them into date modified. And delete all the ones that (probably) are at the top
