Sacrifice Sucks
Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Sacrifice Sucks
I recently had to sell all my consoles, and all my games just to pay rent... How sad is that?
Anyway, I plan on starting over and start a new collection. Maybe eventually get a Wii and a 360.. and eventually, the Playstation
Any sugestions?
Getting a job first might be a good start. ;)
I've had a job.. there was just a slight problem of the factory having to be down for a whole week
hense forth the loss of one week's pay, and the ability to pay one's rent without certain sacrifice.. =P
You should always be prepared to live for more than a week with no pay, which leads me to believe you're living paycheck to paycheck.
Sooooooo yeah... i'd stuff some cash back for a while first.
Seriously, save some money before worrying about buying more consoles. If you're never more than a weeks pay away from living on the streets, you're in a very dangerous position.
Plan for food/rent for at least a month, then toys :)
Someone shoot me I just sounded like what my parents used to tell me! ha ha
Bah forget all that, buy the biggest xbox360 fully loaded... credit baby!
I'll onlt be getting things as I can afford them...
I'm pretty much keeping a good eye on my budget plans, and working out how bills would be paid and what not.
As for a more easier yet prolonged way of regaining my gaming collection...
can someone say Wal~Mart layaway? =P
You could also consider getting a part-time job, on top of what you're currently doing, to build up your reserves, or to buy your toys. Good luck.
seriously... you don't know how to budget if what you said in the begining was true.
We all want you to do well, so you can lend us money later on when our reverse-mortgages and credit card limits can't sustain us any longer.
plus also by a certain time in life, banks (or friends) should be willing to give you an overdraft or quick loan to cover such stuff as rent so you don't need to sell consoles.
Oh guys please. You didnt give em a chance. Maybe this is a one time problem. Ive arrested many people who were succesful and ran into bad luck. My own dad had cottages, boats, ect. But when he bought a store for the side, it went real bad. He lost everything and ended up somewhat homeless for 2 weeks. Not everybody has money ALL the time. And if you dont think it cant happen to you, think again. Problems are not choosy. Anyone of us could end up like Avesfoxy at any given moment. Good luck Avesfoxy. I hope you have a change of luck soon.
Yep, I'm having to settle some debt. It's kind of like bankrupcy. I had credit cards I was paying off just fine. I missed some payments by mistake and they raised the interest so high that I couldn't pay them and make my mortgage! What a mess!!
Best bet is to have money saved up, but it's tough when you don't make much in the first place. Best of luck!

hmmm... It HAS happened to me. Which was more than enough to prompt me to be prepared in case it happens again. I think that's all everyone is saying here. Obviously if you're a week away from homelessness, you're several months to years away from having a nest egg large enough to support yourself in a future emergency, much less to safely go console shopping.
Glad to see im not the only one who doesn't care about managing financial administration :)
I always believed it was very important to have a decent income, but since about 1,5 years I have had a lot of problems and i've lived on the virge of homelessness for about 8 months.
In that time I realized how totally insignificant all this financial crap, jobs and careers really is. It doesn't matter whether you are rich or poor, Drive a bently or an 25 year old rusty bycicle. The only thing in life that really matters is that you are happy with yourself and there is at least 1 person in your life you can truely call a friend. And contrary to what many ppl believe, being happy does not include having a decent job or a fat paycheck.
So live it up. No matter what you do, there is always a chance that tomorrow you loose everything you ever cared for. Noone can see it coming or prevent it, no matter how well you think you are doing. If you want to buy yourself a new car, console or whatever, go out now and do it. Because this may very well be the last day you will ever get a chance to.

True, but if you can mitigate the risk of being kicked out on the curb over
'just a slight problem of the factory having to be down for a whole week' by making sure you have a little bit in savings before blowing it on a new console computer... wouldn't you think that's the smart thing to do regardless?
You can't forsee everything of course, but you can still set priorities for yourself...
hey, guy's..thanks for all your kind sugestions and comments
I'm doing fine now, and everything's caught up... but like most of you have been saying here, I really do need to start a savings account for stupid problems like this.. I've been hearing it from my family sinse I moved out on my own =P
Still.. it sucks not being able to play the games you always wanted to play.. I was really looking foward to Zelda;Twighlight Princess for the Cube.. and I was wanting to get the new Star Fox game for the DS.
but crap happens as they say... eventually I'll get everything back, but for now, I just need to get my money straight
I learned the hard way too! :)
I was up pooy creek without a paddle a couple of years ago, lost my job, £400 a month mortgage, crappy council tax, gas/lecky/water/BT, my bills became that high, I was on the verge of just selling up everything and moving to London to work (again)...
Though, with a little bit of help from family and friends, a new job, I've payed loads of debt back, my mortgage arrears are now 0, and have been for ages! :D
I struggled, big time, but I'm through it, and my money is in better shape than every before! :D
I mean, I went out and payed £1600 cash for a Ford Escort 55 van...
Two years ago, going the way I was, I wouldnt of even had 1600p!
The best advice I can give to people who are struggling, is dont give in, swallow your pride, ask for help from friends/family, phone credit companies and explain (they will help), phone your mortgage company/rent man and see if they can help (Mine give me a month where I could miss a payment without getting charged) and be prepared to literally start again!
