Brain controled Space Invaders...
Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Brain controled Space Invaders... The teenager had a grid atop his brain to record brain surface signals, a brain-machine interface technique that uses electrocorticographic (ECoG) activity - data taken invasively right from the brain surface.
Trying to understand just exactly how this thing is working.....are they saying they had to do some surgery or the sorts to get said stuff to work on the 14yo client?
No idea exactly where "brain surface" is located, top of the brain, the scalp, somewhere out of the ordinary?
I'm a bit curious as to how the future of gaming might turn out, if Nintendo's Wii system takes off, odds are something such as brain-controlled or VR may be the next step regarding player immersion.......when the technology catches up and is applicable in a mass-market.
Still cool stuff regardless, would love to experience that as long as it doesn't involve opening my head beforehand.
Genexi2 - they did have to do surgery - they implanted the grid into his head atop the brain. Not something I'd like to try...
Looks like he's using two fingers to go left and right. I imagine the thoughts of which finger is focused on going down is triggering the grid. I also imagine the grid acts as a keyboard membrane does.
I remember people doing stuff like that 20 years ago.
