Possible hacking attempt or harassment?

This morning I received an email from the Blitz Research Team regarding a "lost password". Apparently someone requested the info and it was sent to me. Could this presage a hacking attempt (amateurish, at best), or could this be the start of a course of harassment? Anyway, I sent the time, etc. to the webmaster and suggested that they check their server logs at the time that the email was sent and pull the IP address of whomever accessed this particular feature of their website. Anyone else getting emails about lost password requests?

phishing would only work if the email was asking me for the password...this email actually contained my password.

happened to me on the 3drad forum as well, about 2 years ago, just before someone hacked into THEIR website.

Maybe someone just tried to log into your account and used password recovery thinking they could get into your email account to get the password?

or maybe someone set a sniffer to intercept the email that Blitz Research sent to me?

I'm cynical, Rook Zimbabwe, because I've had this same thing happen to me on 3drad forum just before they got hacked. There is at least one other kevin handle that I've seen, but nowhere NEAR kevin8084. By the way, love your name.

I'm cynical (which is what I thought I sounded like) and I had someone try to steal my handle out on the web... Long before the Infobahn was available to the unwashed masses There were BBS Boards you would dial in to...

I wrote a little electronic rag called: Rook Zimbabwe Photo News (RZPN) Someone decided that was a great name and good idea and simply started adding to it using my name. Generated me a bit of hate since that idiot named names and pissed people off...

A long time ago I was a sysadmin of a chat forum using the name KLee8084. Every once in a while I'd get someone thinking that they were funny, joining with the name KLee8085 or something similar. People sometimes thought that it was me and wondered why I was being a jerk. Simple solution - I banned the mimic's IP address from the site. Done deal.

Happened again this morning. This time blitzbasic.com sent me the jerk's IP address...turns out to be from the Ukraine...let's see...from mageal.net, to be specific. Any blitz coders here who are from the Ukraine and are on mageal.net? I'd guess that the number is VERY few. Seriously, buddy, you need to grow a brain.

Hujiklo, I know that you're from the Ukraine. I don't know who tried to access my account. What I DO know is that the person came from IP address 195.189.45.10 which traces back to mageal.net. I've already contacted the gentleman who oversees that particular IP block and asked him to look into the matter. See, I have the IP address and the time of attempted intrusion - it will be a very simple matter for the webmaster at mageal.net to check his server logs and find which user was assigned that IP at that particular time.

I'm wondering if they'll help...I did a quick search on mageal.net and it seems to be a bit of a scammer's paradise judging by how many scammers have email addresses: @mageal.net.

I also contacted mageal.net's OWN provider on the assumption that mageal.net would do nothing....redundancy is a beautiful thing :)
