Woo, finally finished KOTOR!

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Woo, finally finished KOTOR!

Yep, I know it's years old but I waited until it was really cheap and got it off ebay cos it had disappeared from the shops. Anyway, it was a really great game, quite hard at the end but I had just enough powers and health packs and battle stims to see it throught!

Can anyone recommend KOTOR2 then? I heard it wasn't as good but if it's nearly as good, that may be good enough for me to burn another 40 hours on :-D

I have KOTOR 2 over here, but I never got into it.
The first section of game is HORRIBLY boring, because you're playing as a droid (a part of both games which I disagree with; droids are not sentient, and it would be more fun if you had to trust them to be sensible) and the various levels that I played just... didn't make sense.
(Mind: I didn't play many levels until I got completely sick of it).

If there's a demo available I suggest that you try it. You may enjoy the game more than I did :)

It's more of the same, but lacking a decent storyline and interesting characters, so it soon becomes something of a dungeon trawl, a la NeverWinter Nights. I saw it through to the end, so it couldn't have been too bad, but it lacked the finer points of the original, for sure.

KOTOR2 did some interesting stuff (gave more freedom after that boring intro IIRC) but it was shorter and boring. I liked KOTOR1 more.

You thought the end was hard? All i remember was you jedi leaped. killed people, jedi leaped, killed people etc.

Didnt like the second one as much.

Question, when you had the option, who would you travel with? I always went for that robot assasin and either r2d2 type or another Jedi depending on if I needed to breakinto things.

Played and completed both, the original was significantly better, but as a total geek my love for Star Wars allowed me to stomach the bugs and week plot of the sequel. The 2nd one is, without a doubt, a stereotypical 'more of the same' shallow software product.

I loved the original, in 2 I got stuck in some space station with some gambling nonsense and lost interest.

Jade empire is fabulous and as good as the first KOTOR if not better. Similar game but with realtime combat, brilliant story and in a really nice setting. Had me gripped the whole way through unlike KOTOR2

Agreed. Jade Empire is absolutely fantastic. One of the best games I've played in a long time. KOTOR2 really is a pale shadow of KOTOR and I wouldn't recommend anyone waste their time with it.

Nicely said. Kotor2 is a shadow Kotor, but it would be hard to top that game anyway.

I bought both games as bugdet titles and liked them, though I never finished part 2 as I lacked the freetime.

Can anyone recommend KOTOR2 then?
No. It's too bugged to bother (and to make matters worse, updating adds even more bugs). Obsidian just aren't as good as Bioware - which is probably why they're the ones making sequels.

So. Looking forward to Neverwinter Nights 2? :o>

Bummer, so KOTOR 2 is a waste of time. Maybe I should checkout Jade Empire.

H&K: I meant right at the end when fighting Malic, it took a few tries.

I liked the KOTOR plot of you being Reven and brainwashed to the light side etc, it was cool.

Neverwinter 1 was good (completed) and I have some mission packs to try out, so maybe I'll do that next.

Actually I might try to finish Arx Fatalis, I left it halfway through for no good reason.

And yea, NWN2 look good. Also I haven't played oblivion yet :-)

Arx Fatalis, I left it halfway through for no good reason

Ditto. It isnt that its bad, its just that its not good enough to make you want to finish. I got to the dwalf mines and just couldnt be bothered trying to figure it out.

might try again now but I have to remember what the hell I was supposed to be doing + learn all the keys + spells again etc sigh.

OK managed to figure out what I'm doing in Arx Fatalis. I just destroyed the meteor and now have to make the ultimate weapon.
