Al's still got it! You may not have liked "Don't download this song" but I challenge you not to enjoy this one. :-) (Except you GFK!)

Already seen this 100's of times since Al began posting it about.....all I can say is, the video really does add to the music itself.

Will be buying his latest album, read it's a double-sided disc and includes 6 music videos (hopefully including that one, since I cant find a damn download of it in a locally playable format) and other goodies, which I rarely, if ever, see on music CDs I buy at the store.

I just cant figure out where he gets his rhyming ideas from though, even if I tried brainstorming a bunch of geek related topics, I wouldn't have a clue how to string them together in a coherent way which flows with the music...

Google's video player will download the videos from google in a higher quality in many cases if you install that, and the videos are just renamed avi files.

Also you can save youtube videos as flash video files and play those with a flash video player, but you have to enter the url on a website that provides the link.

And the streaming WMV can be saved if you have NetTransport 2 and grab the mms:// url from inside the .asx file which is really just a text file that points to the real file that can't be downloaded by a normal browser.

As for the rhyme, it just takes time. :-) Plus, I think having a song to start with and build on actually makes the task much easier.

My only problem with WA's newer stuff is popular music in general. I loved everything before and including Bad Hair Day.... but everything since has been so full of rap and terrible pop music that I can't stand the majority of it... so I can't bother to buy the albums..

I mean... Yeah, it is making fun of the music, but I still have to hear that terrible music.

This video is funny... but at the same time makes me sick.

give me amish paradise over this any day... at least there was some.. oh.. well written aspects to the music. (I also lived in central penn with the amish all around... )

I hear ya! The original songs are just plain garbage (IMNSHO). But what Al does to them is pure genius. I guess it doesn't hurt that I finally got to a Wierd Al concert on his last tour.

Also - Al has been doing more original compositions on the albums, Poodle hat had 2 or 3 completely original songs on them.

on the negative side, I have not heard back from Al on my suggestion that he do a disco album - if there is any genre of music begging to be made fun of it is disco.

How is that negative exactly? Do you expect people of fame to respond to every email? (or any for that matter?)

Disco is a thing of the past and Weird Al has always catered to what is popular 'now'. That's where the money is, he isn't after people in their 40's and 50's who would more than likely be insulted that he is making fun of music they used to get down to. It's not profitable for him to make fun of disco or mozart. Making-fun is socially a pre-adult thing and considered immature and inappropriate to many adults. So what audience should he cater to where making fun is common ground? Teens.

And teens are listening to the latest poppy/trendy music. If they are listening to rap, then he'll do rap. When it was alternative music, he did alternative. If it becomes classical, then I'm sure he will do classical.

Now for this - I haven't met any of them! (the mature adults that is). And although Al normally does make fun of modern music the Poodle Hat album did have the parody of "Piano Man" which is not exactly a song in it's prime.

Al's concert in Atlantic City had a very diverse mix of people from the not quite middle aged foggies like myself to a group of "ladies" in the back screaming "we love you Al!".
