Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Sony is lowering the price for the PS3 in Japan

Which says for the 20GB version:
Japan: 336 Euro (exclusive taxes)
USA. 393 Euro (exclusive taxes, different taxes)
Europe: 499 Euro (inclusive taxes)

Brave Europeans always subsidise the other ones, right?!

Aren't the Europeans subsidising themselves with their extortionate taxes?

If i count out the taxes for germany for instance then it would come down to €430.

For the UK they'll just substitute the dollar or euro sign with the £ sign - as always.

I won't buy it if they wanna play this ball...sorry sony!

I remember when the N64 was released and there was a huge furore about the price of it in Britain. Nintendo explained that the higher price was down to two things. Firstly the need for an additional power convertor for the UK market ( adding about £10-15 to the price ) and the fact that the UK retailers were far more greedy than anywhere else in the world, demanding anything from 35% upwards of the price, which as I recall was adding something like £80 to the price.

So yeah, we do get screwed, but it's probably still the greedy retailers that are screwing us.

I went to town at lunchtime:

Last week, i bought an X360 premium, two games, three controllers and some other junk for £420 or so.

Today i walk in to the same shop with a big add up:

x360premium, two games, two wireless controllers, and some stuff, for only £299! Today only!

GRRRRRRRR!!!

In the states, if you buy something and it goes on sale within 30 days you can go to the store with your reciept and ask for the difference and get it.

I've heard that somewhere... Doubt you can do that here though.

@kanati
Can you also buy stock at Wallmart? ;O)

I don't think there's any legal provision for it, no. But when that happened to me with the Dreamcast, I went back and complained. They gave me the difference in cash, plus a free keyboard and a free game. So it was worth asking.
