Someone spreak french and mind helping?

Trying to add a language for Boxed In -- French. Anyone speak / write french fluently and mind helping? I only have ~80 strings I need converted from English to French. You'll get your name in the game in the next (free) 1.03 update...

My partner Helen, is a freelance journalist with excellent French writing skills, but she would have to charge on an hourly basis. 80 strings shouldn't take too long...mail me if interested. Also what about a naff translation using google translate or whatever it's called?

I don't think it's that big of a job for an "hourly basis." It shouldnt take more than ten minutes..and I don't want to have the strings in the game to be (babel)fished or translated in general by a machine because of idioms, etc.

80 strings in 10 minutes = 7.5 seconds per string. Don't think so. I was thinking 1-2 hours to get it done properly.

If he was asking for Irish, that 7.5 seconds per string could be possible...

I might could do the Texan translation... but only if the strings allowed split participles, dangling modifiers, and run on silliness!

Im with Tony on this, have you never noticed the little French Flag at the top of the BRL forum pages?

We have some fine French users, and it couldnt but help to post on their sister site could it?

And it will be more than 10 mins, because there are bound to be some things that might mean one thing or another in French even though its obvious in English

Also you might have written it wrong in English, and the French translator would need to ask you what you really ment EG

"Someone spreak french and mind helping?"

Which in real English means,
"A French Speaker who doesnt want to help"

when you want to say

"Someone who speaks French and Doesn't mind helping?"
I dont post this to complain about your English, but just to show how sometimes translation can be made a lot more difficult than you think it will be.

Continueing this point, it would be well worth your while getting a native English Speaker to check the English Lines. (And I dont mean A good English Speaker, I mean A nativeone)

@ H&K, I try to be more informal and loose when posting on forums than with my "work" I guess you'd call it. I understand your point though, taken note of :-).

Also, it just occurred to me today at school that there was a .fr site. I was going to check it out if there weren't responses when I had come home.

In the end, I'm just looking for some languages that use the standard a-z A-Z alphabet (if you don't mind accent omissions because the font I'm using doesn't have accents). I chose Eng, Sp, & Fr because those are the most common languages here. I might expand later if people ask about it.

This is a mistake. You cannot even give the option of it being in Spanish without an ~. (ie Español) (Well ok you could option it a Castiliano ).
And it really pissed off all the Spanish gamers I knew when A game couldnt be bothered to include it. I would look round for a font that does have accents.

Maybe Latinos dont mind, but Spainards do. Also there is a BIG difference between informal and incorrect, but HA like I dont make mistakes

Never planned for a hobby game to be multilingual and I've already planted most of the code around having that specific font ;-(
