The ultimate fighting game?

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/The ultimate fighting game?

A bit of bloody dismemberment involved, so careful if you don't like that kind of thing...

It's a turn-based fighting game, where you control your characters by moving limbs with the mouse.
(Turn-based, remember - not like Ragdoll Kung-Fu in the slightest!).

This is probably the only one I've ever been satisfied with, since it actually puts me in control. You can't win by mashing buttons and there aren't any ridiculous combo moves.
I may have to attempt to persuade someone to build a similar but superior, scriptable and expandable fighting game with Blitz.

I found that game a few days ago, its a really cool game, and free too.

A video clip of the game: http://www.toribash.com/tbpromo2.mov (3MB)

I’m surprised there aren’t more games like it, its quite fun.

can't seem to watch the video...some weird compression error...guess I'll have to download it now...

Yeah I also found it a few days ago. First thing that came to mind is they should have consulted a 3d artist before planning the project. Not because the game needs good artwork, but because they could have gotten some very good advice as to making such a bones system userfriendly.

Can you say On-screen control widgets ?

If I were gonna make this game, Id do the control much simialr, but just give it a fully mouse-able click n drag interface!

Anyway.. Im gonna go have another go!

I've been thinking about making a game like this. The way I would do it is if the player presses down, the shoulder and elbow would extend (move down), if the player presses right the shoulder would externally rotate (turn right), etc. (This would only be for a game with a sword (or other close range weapon) because it would take a group of arrow keys (or control stick) for each limb.) But for moving around, I would just use a normal configuration: w=forward, s=backward, etc.

Toribash is brilliant. Played it a lot while I was sick at home a couple of weeks ago. :)
