We should make a game competiton that requires you to make a game using all of the Blitz 3D art content that comes with the comercial version of the program. Doesn't matter what the game is. It just has to use ALL of the 3ds, b3d, and image files that came with Blitz 3d. What do you think? Sounds like it would be fun challenge.
Interesting idea for a game competition
Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Interesting idea for a game competition No.
lol, wow. Your no fun.
Make it only media that came with it, as apposed to All the emdia
Why not include us who doesn't own Blitz 3D? I think Blitz+ and bmax users should be able to enter too.
How about a competition similar to GID? http://www.gameinaday.com/
24 hours to make a game. Everyone can start and finnish anytime they want as long as they use at most 24 hours and during the same weekend. All code should be written during those 24 hours. It's ok to use code from the code archives or similar resources. All media should also be created during those 24 hours. (It's ok to use media that are free)
If someone feels the time is too short (It's not, really. A lot can be made during 24 hours) it could get extended to 48.
imo, a short competition is more fun than a long one.

H&K, that's what I meant.
Problem usually is that ppl tend yto use existing projects as a basis and modify them. Hat could be considered cheating imho.
There should be some restrictions as to the Theme or it's content which severly limits the chance of ppl being able to modify an existing project. GameDev does something similar by requiring the inclusion of 4 specific elements in the project.
I believe they currently have something like:
- Economic System (Ability to Sell/Buy stuff/Stocks/etc),
- A specific Logo or sign must be abundantly present in the game and have some sort of significant Meaning in terms of story or gameplay.
- The game Must take place in Europe. So 90% of the Levels/maps must be in a European setting.
- can't remember what the fourth is, but it's equally limiting.
These kind of restrictions seem harsh, but they force ppl to really think about something original and they have to create it from scratch in the allotted time.

Hi,
And you are incapable of organizing this by yourself because?....
If you want a competition,
First decide if there are going to be prizes, (These could be somthing as stupid as you just printing off a "Certificate" of first prize).
Or you could post round the people with products. Felix, Boiled, etc (And I dont mean to miss anyone out, so I stopped at two examples ok).
And ask them to "Donate" a product or two for the comp. You dont need to give them all as prizes the first time, the prize could be you just pick one.
Then you would need somewhere to host the entries, I dont relly have a lot to do with the web, but I imagine that there are several people here who have ample web space, and the knowhow to host the enties. (And dont forget the need to be secure from tampering). And Im sure either one of the prize donators or someone else would like to do that for you. (It is after all extra Hits)
Then, (Well probably before now), you need to think about the rules. You have already shown that "loose" wording or baddly thought out rules can lead to confustion. (As in you have already said "I meant this tho":- A cardinal Sin for a compettion organizer)
I dont like your idea of "A 24 Hour Period", because 1) Yeh, honest guv, I did it in 24 hours, 2) Some of us work, so 24Hours is really only 4 or 5, whereas some student could spend 24Hrs on it. 3) It sucks
You could possibly post a thread with a few ideas, and go with the one with the most support.
AnyWay heres my idea

I know this would also require some form of honesty on the contestants part, but part of the aim of this would be to learn anyway, so... people might realy do it. Lets say you said rules like that guy has, but 40hrs over two months. And you pick the genre of the first one.
Then a week of closed judging. (The prize donators have first refusal as judges)
Then Three weeks of on display/discussion (with Popular voting?). Then the winner picks the new genre. You could do four a year that way. Also I think it should be "Any" blitz language

It would be easier to say "make a game, and you have 4 weeks, starting now". (Instead of the 40 hours rule.)
It would, but I quite liked the idea of the 40 worklog as well.
