Brodaband has made me impatient.

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Brodaband has made me impatient.

Since I got high speed broadband, I don't mean standard 512 or 1MB but very highspeed broadband over 6MB, I have become used to getting 5 to 20mb files in under a minute.

When I come accross a slow server and download something I get impatient quickly and either cancel the download or try to get it later.

IF someone paid me £10,000 to go on dialup for a year I would tell them to go stuff themselves.

Now there is news that Cable companies in the UK are trialling 100MB broadband. I beleive NTL is currently running trials. That's not all. I am now seeing companies offering bonded DSL lines to basically double the bandidth both up and down that you currently receive.

If you're on DSL and you're not far from your exchange and getting speeds above 10MB; with bonded DSL lines you would double your bandwidth. It doesn't end there. Companies are trialling VDSL which is better technology to ADSL2+ meaning the range increases for supply of broadband from your local exchange. IF you were far from your exchange and were getting say 4MB, with VDSL you would get 9mb. If you were close to your exchange and were getting 15mb and up, you would end up with about 30 - 52MB broadband speeds. Now add a second line and bond the two together and you're looking at close to 100MB and over broadband speeds.

FInally we can catch up with the rest of Europe and some other countries where 100MB broadband is standard.

LIAR! :) I would accept 10,000 gladly.

Anyway, what's Brodaband?

i hate the US and UK right now

we just are getting 6 MB right now and some people are still using dail up, my cousin had it until late 2004/early 2005

i hope my parents upgrade our connection when we move to our new house

I would never go back to Dialup. When I switched from BullCrap Broadband to Be Unlimited I had to endure a weeek of dialup internet. I nearly had a breakdown. It took a day to download Greys framework before I got it in my inbox.

Highspeed Broadband is the future.

WOW! You're using dail up?

> Highspeed Broadband is the future.

Yes, the next generation of procrastination looms. Waste your time faster and with bigger things! :)

I'm paying 6$ more than for my last connection and the speeds rised from 256/1024 kb/s to 765/11996 kb/s and i received Wifi router for free :)
Downloading 700MB/14m

It took a day to download Greys framework before I got it in my inbox.
lol sorry dude

I miss the noise my old dialup modem did when connecting.

and I don't miss the phonebills.. They used to be like E200+ per 2 months.. :S

Sorbic acid.

Don't hate the UK, only a few hundred people are testing speeds anywhere near 100mb.

When I first read the topic title, thought it said "Broad band has made me impotent"

Well when you pay for speed you're only talking about one side of the equasion so sorry, yes, you will find lots of servers and websites that only send to you at rates slower than your high-end bandwidth. Either you can have a slow connection and have the servers waiting to send to you, or keeping up with you, or you wait. You can't make the net go faster just by getting a faster connection.
